Chapter 15: Worried

“Inspector Thian, are there girls here? That girl is beautiful.” “Inspector, Inspector, can you hear me?”

Sergeant Serm nudged the shoulder of the man who was just staring at the glowing screen. Thian’s mind was elsewhere, floating away somewhere; it hadn’t returned to its owner.

“Hey, Thian!”

“Huh, what? Kanin?” The man who was called for the third time startled awake and quickly adjusted his expression to normal.

“You don’t look like you’re enjoying yourself.” Enjoying myself my ass!

He had never gone out and felt this guilty or worried before in his life. He loved and cherished his freedom so much that he feared commitment. But now, Mangkon was becoming too influential, and it wasn’t just his imagination.

“Are you taking a girl home tonight, Thian?”

I would never do that! The cunning Inspector could only answer in his heart.

Seeing his friend withdraw, Kanin assumed it was due to stress. With good intentions and wanting to be a good friend, he arranged for the most beautiful female staff member in the shop to entertain the young Inspector.

Soon, a woman in a tight-fitting dress that clearly showed off her figure walked over. A sweet smile adorned her beautiful face and captivated attention, especially her breasts, which were remarkably large and too difficult to ignore. Kanin, who knew his friend’s preferences well, grinned proudly.

“Tits like melons, just the way you like them, Thian.” “Yeah, great. Let’s have some fun.”

His tone was sarcastic, and inappropriate thoughts flashed through his head. So what if I’m married? It’s just a marriage to ward off bad luck. It’s not real, after all. Besides, he had said from the beginning that this kind of thing was hard to cut off.

“Hello, handsome. Today, Prae Mai is happy to serve you,” the woman’s sweet voice said, along with a winning smile that was directed straight at the young Inspector.

“What a cute name,” Kanin added. “Oh, thank you.”

“Take care of my friend as best you can, Prae Mai.” “Of course.”

Nadol could only look at the scene with a weary eye at the excited behavior of the provincial captain. He also knew that these two were notorious for picking women.

“How about you, Nadol? Want someone too? Or would you like to have fun with me?” “Heh, go ahead, Captain.”

The woman named Prae Mai slowly moved closer in a seductive manner before dropping down beside Thian. She knew how to please customers very well. Her smooth, delicate skin reflected the gentle lights in the shop. She moved closer until she was close and slowly traced her fingers on Thian’s thigh on purpose.

“What would you like Prae Mai to do today?”

“What would you like to do?” The cunning Inspector began to show his true colors, and his confidence started to return.

“I want to have some fun together, just the two of us.” “Is that so, beautiful?”

In the end, Thian tried to keep his composure, but it didn’t seem easy. Sergeant Serm kept sending photos into the group Line, and one of those photos was of him sitting close to the woman named Prae Mai.

Even though Prae Mai served him fully, mixed drinks, smiled sweetly, and sent seductive glances, the feeling inside him wasn’t the same. The eyes that used to be captivated by the curves of her body, especially her prominent breasts, still said they liked it, but something was different, unlike anything he had ever felt before.

“Aren’t you having fun? I’ll mix you a drink,” Prae Mai offered. “It’s okay, I’m going home now.”

Whoosh! Stunned.

The words that came out made the entire table fall silent instantly. All eyes turned to stare at the Casanova in shock.

“What? You just got here, and you’re already leaving?” Kanin asked loudly.

“Acting like you have a wife waiting for you at home.” Well, I actually do!

The clock had just struck 10:30 PM, which was the beginning for night owls, but not for Thian. At this time, his mind was restless, and a voice in his head kept telling him that he should go home.

“Yeah, I’m going home.”

“Are you serious?” Kanin still stared in disbelief. “Put it on my tab.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the tall man didn’t wait and quickly walked out, creating confusion for all the police officers who were there.

Thain had complete control of his faculties. He drank alcohol in very small quantities. A moment ago, he had wanted to enjoy himself, but now he was restless.

The driver steered the black European car through the streets. His destination was the Phiromsamon house. He was preparing a multitude of words in his head, both truths and excuses, to tell his destiny-correcting wife. He didn’t know why he had to, but he felt he had to.

On the other hand, after reading the message and seeing the picture in the group chat that slammed into his feelings, Mangkon could only lie still on the bed. His large, round brown eyes had dimmed. Even though he didn’t zoom in on the picture, what he saw was clear enough: Inspector Thian was standing with someone.

“His favorite things: pretty girls with big boobs,” Mangkon muttered to himself, rolling his eyes and biting his lip.

“Huh, it’s his business. Doesn’t concern me,”

The words that seemed to emphasize it all only made his heart ache more. Someone as flirtatious as him probably wouldn’t stop with just one person. Especially the message saying, “It’s nobody.” It was clearly a lie for children. Did he think he was a toddler who would believe such words?

Just reading it made him instantly annoyed, and he tried to find a way to manage his feelings.

The small man rolled around in the soft bed, picked up his iPad, hoping to find a movie or anime to eliminate his unstable feelings, but his head was filled with all sorts of thoughts and confusion.

“Are you feeling something for him, Mangkon?”

“Your’re just a destiny-correcting wife. What right do you have to say anything?”

Just ‘destiny-correcting wife’. This word made his chest tighten abruptly. In his head, he thought of that day, the day the Inspector had talked about divorce. It had been four months. There were only two months left. When the time came, he hoped the Inspector wouldn’t get hurt, and this fake marriage agreement would end.

Until then, if they didn’t see each other, his feelings would probably fade away and eventually disappear.

That’s terrible.

“Inspector, you’re the worst person.”

As his mind wandered and his heart weakened, a notification sounded. His slender hand picked up the rectangular device and opened the message, which was from Inspector Saming.

The message was about inviting him to go for a drive and get something to eat late at night. Mangkon readily accepted, because he wanted to find something to do to distract him from what he was going through right now.

Saming volunteered to drive to the police sergeant’s house and took his junior to eat dessert. After adding some sweetness to his blood sugar, the old man told him that he wanted to take him for a drive, which he did not refuse.

The atmosphere in the car right now was accompanied by soft music. The driver’s eyes darted around slightly, as if he had something on his mind, before starting the conversation.

“Mangkon, do you remember when I came to train you at the Provincial Police School? We were punished together because I took you to skip self-defense class.”

Mangkon laughed softly and nodded.

“I remember. You invited me out for food, but we got caught. You were punished for not taking good care of your junior. We had to run around the field until we were almost out of energy.”

“Yes, at that time I remember you were almost fainting. I had to carry you back to the dorm.”

“If it weren’t for you, I would have had to crawl back to the dorm for sure.” It wasn’t a memorable memory.

“But now, are you still as stubborn as you were then?”

Saming seemed very warm now. He had thought carefully about what he was going to tell the smaller man.

“Hmm, not stubborn anymore,” Mangkon replied. “Mangkon.”

“Yes, Senior.”

“I think I have something to tell you.” The car gradually slowed down. Saming flicked the turn signal to park on the side of the road before turning to look at his junior seriously.

“I’m sorry for telling you a little late…”

The warmth and gentleness had completely vanished. His eyes were now frighteningly intense. A feeling of insecurity crept closer. Acting on police instinct, Mangkon knew he had to do something.

“Where are you taking me?”

The smaller man asked with a fearful voice. His round eyes tried to find a way out. His slender hand reached for the door lock, but it was too late. Saming, the once mysterious senior, had completely changed. The senior turned to look at him with cold eyes. His rough, thick hand took something out of his shirt pocket before breaking into a wide, crazed smile.

“Don’t struggle, Mangkon, or you’ll just tire yourself out for nothing.”

“What are you going to do?” he asked, his voice breaking. Mangkon’s round eyes widened, his heart pounding with a fear that was difficult to control.

“Just to calm you down a bit… so you don’t get hurt.”

Before Mangkon could respond or move away, a cool, anesthetic-soaked cloth was pressed against his nose and mouth. In an instant, the pungent odor made him realize what it was.

“In… Inspector!”

The police sergeant tried to struggle with all his might, shaking his head and moving around to escape the grasp, but his strength was decreasing with each moment.

“In… Inspector…” The emitted sound began to weaken. The body that had once resisted finally slumped down. The large, round eyes, full of wary light, began to blur before closing slowly under the influence of the anesthetic.

Someone smirked with satisfaction before letting Mangkon’s body lie flat on the passenger seat and returned to steering the wheel as before, before stepping on the accelerator immediately.

“Hey Thian, how would you feel if the person you love most was in my hands?”

The words were spoken in a cold tone, followed by a burst of maniacal laughter. Saming’s face was filled with hatred and resentment.

Why wouldn’t he know about the wedding? There were many things that they underestimated about him.

“And you’ll find out what defeat is like, Thien.”
