Special 2: The wedding
The wedding was held according to the auspicious date, with countless guests in attendance. Piromsomorn Mansion was used for the second time to host the wedding of a police major and a police sergeant. The first time might not have been so grand, but this time, it couldn’t be anything less due to social standing and face.
*Ho hi ho riw!* (Sound effect of a wedding procession cheer)
The cheer from the wedding procession could be heard from afar. It was lively with laughter and music. Sergeant Tri and Fakfaeng took the lead as dancers in the front, full of energy and unconcerned about exhaustion. Behind them was a lively procession of relatives and friends. Everyone was dressed in colorful Thai outfits, perfectly matching the festive atmosphere of the wedding.
In the middle of the procession was the groom, or Inspector Thian. The young man looked handsome in a cream-colored Thai-inspired suit, adorned with a golden waist sash. His sharp-featured face was wreathed in a non-stop smile. From morning until now, people were saying that the Inspector had never looked happier in his life.
“Hey, Thian, are you nervous? Getting married a second time,” Kanin quipped, standing beside him.
“A second time with the same person. Who else can do that?” “You almost became a widower, you know?”
“When are you going to get married? What’s going on with you and Nadol? Omyim probably wants a brother-in-law by now.”
“You’re just talking. There’s nothing between me and Nong Nadol.” “I used to say that too. Be careful.”
“I don’t know about that, but if it did happen, it’d probably be good.”
How fickle! But never mind. Seeing Kanin volunteer to pick up Omyim, Nadol’s younger brother, every day… if that isn’t called caring, what should it be called?
“Today is your auspicious day; let’s not talk about other people.” Other people referring to Kanin himself.
The wedding procession entered Piromsomorn Mansion, but before they could see the bride, they had to pass a tough obstacle: countless silver and gold gates. But nothing was beyond Thian’s capabilities.
Lots of money, but afraid of not getting his wife.
Starting with the first gate, where Nadol and Makham blocked the way with a golden rope before the Chiang Mai Lieutenant began the questioning.
“What brings you here today, Inspector Thian?”
“Today, I’m here to officially marry my wife,” Thian said loudly, his smile almost splitting his cheeks. So happy indeed!
“This first gate requires a heavy purse,”
“Nadol, name your price. But if it’s more than my life, you’ll have to collect it from that Kanin over there. He’d probably give you his whole life for you, Lieutenant.”
“Inspector!”
The teasing rang out again, accompanied by Lieutenant Nadol’s cheeks turning a rosy hue. Kanin glanced at the younger man, a delicate, restrained shyness that seemed so adorable.
“Pay up, or you won’t pass!” “Alright, here you go!”
A red envelope was handed over, containing several bills. When the first gate was satisfied, they were allowed to proceed to the next, which could be considered a tough one. This silver and gold gate was manned by Inspector Phuwin and Police Sergeant Lukplub.
“Hey, Thian,”
“Phu, let me through! I miss my wife!”
“The Inspector can’t get through so easily. How about telling P’Mangkon how much you love him, loud and clear?” Lukplub said, holding up his hand to block the way.
“Sure, Nong Plub.”
When you love someone, you’ll do or say anything. Thian took a deep breath and shouted in a low, sonorous voice that could be heard three houses down the block.
“I love Mangkon! Thian loves Mangkon!”
“What was that, Inspector? I can’t hear you!” This time, Phuwin chimed in, teasing his friend.
“I love Mangkon the most in the world!”
The guests at the event cheered again, while the bride in the bedroom heard everything loud and clear. Mangkon blushed visibly, prompting his mother, Butsaba, to tease him.
“My son is really blushing!”
“Mom! Mom knows how to blush too!”
“I thought after getting married once already, you wouldn’t blush anymore.” “Mom!”
However, things felt truly different this time around. The first time and this time felt vastly different.
When Thian passed through all the gates and came inside with everyone else, they all waited for the bride. Not long after, Mangkon slowly walked down from the second floor of the house. All eyes focused on the Police Sergeant in a white, ivory-colored Thai dress embroidered with gold threads that matched perfectly. The gentle sweetness in face made everyone shout the event
“The bride is pretty !”
But the person who seemed the most stunned was the groom. His dark eyes were fixed on the smaller figure, unable to look away. A hint of color rose in his tanned cheeks, feeling proud to have such a beautiful wife.
“Thian, is he beautiful?” Butsaba teased her son. She herself felt happy to have reached this day. Surely, her son couldn’t escape Mangkon now.
“He’s very beautiful, Mom.”
“Do you still want a divorce after this?”
“No, I don’t! Never divorcing again!” He’d rather die.
The ceremony proceeded smoothly, with laughter and smiles on everyone’s faces from the morning until the evening reception. Thian, who had become a crazily in-love groom for today, didn’t let his important bride out of his sight for even a second. Every time he looked at him or even stood beside him, he couldn’t stop praising him.
“My Mangkon looks so beautiful today.”
“P’Thian! Can you stop teasing me? I’m blushing.” “You look beautiful blushing. I’ll praise you every day.”
Thian’s words drew even more teasing from his friends and the guests. The atmosphere was suffused with happiness. Soft music blended with the lively conversations of the people at the evening reception. The look in Mangkon’s eyes as he looked at Thian were filled with tenderness and love.
When everything was finished, the atmosphere in the house became quiet and peaceful. The time the groom had been waiting for had arrived. The newlyweds were ushered into their honeymoon suite, decorated simply and warmly with the scent of jasmine blossoms floating in the air.
The older man sat down on the bed and pulled the younger man to sit beside him. His sharp eyes gazed at the person next to him with his signature mischievous smile, although this time it was tinged with warmth.
“Are you tired today?”
“A little,” Mangkon replied softly. His heart, already beating erratically, still wouldn’t calm down near this mischievous man.
“I’m happy that I got Mangkon back today.” “Yeah… me too.”
Everything had happened so quickly, as if it had only been the blink of an eye. The wedding agreement was only for six months to resolve some karmic issue, but even before those six months were complete, the divorce had come sooner than anticipated. But then, in six months time, another wedding took place
“I’m so happy that I got to marry Mangkon again.” “Mangkon is happy too.”
Mangkon, huh? His handsome brow furrowed slightly. He loves how the pronoun of address was changed and made Thian happy.
“Can you only refer to me as ‘Mangkon’?” “I talk to Mom like that, too.”
“I mean, to me, your husband alone.” “You’re being too direct!”
He was so embarrassed he didn’t know what else to feel. If he hurt his own husband, what would he be charged with? Some days, he was P’Thian the polite and gentle , some days, he can be brutish.
Especially in bed…
“Your face is red like that, you must be thinking something dirty about me.”
Near his ear, his husband smiled widely, pulling his small wife closer and whispering softly, “Tonight, I’m going to show Mangkon just how much I love him.”
The round face lifted to look at him, starting to turn red. He knew what the person beside him was thinking. A moment ago, he’d accused him of being lewd when he was definitely the one who was getting steamy.
“P’Thian! Don’t act so mischievous!”
“Who’s mischievous? I’m just going to hug my wife.”
A hug up close and personal. A hug that wanted to explore every nook and cranny, every square inch.
