Male Sing and His Pet Owner: Chapter 82

By the time they finished eating and came out, it was already past eight. Zhao Kaile watched Lu Jiayin get into her husband’s car, then looked down at his phone. Zhao Kaiming had sent him a message asking him to pick up a gift on his way back.

Zhan Hang had been driving all day, and Zhao Kaile felt embarrassed asking him to take the wheel again, so he volunteered to climb into the driver’s seat. Zhan Hang didn’t say anything and simply leaned back against the rear seat to rest with his eyes closed.

“Did today’s talk go smoothly?” Zhao Kaile glanced at him through the rearview mirror and asked.

Zhan Hang said lazily, “Not bad.”

“How did Sister Li suddenly agree?” Zhao Kaile recalled the events of the past few days and said suspiciously, “I shouldn’t have started taking action yet.”

Zhan Hang said amusedly, “If I waited for you, who knows how long it would take. How were you planning to contact the director yourself? Someone added investment and specifically named me. Bai Li saw that the profit was acceptable and agreed.”

Zhao Kaile raised his eyebrows curiously, “Added investment?! Who?”

Could it be Brother Hang’s fan? Male or female? Specifically naming him, do they want to be his sugar daddy? Will there be unspoken rules after entering the production crew… If Brother Hang resists, will he not be able to act anymore…

Zhan Hang said impatiently, “How would I know? If they don’t want their name public they won’t publicize it… Where are you driving to?”

Zhao Kaile was interrupted from his messy fantasies and said guiltily, “Oh, I’m going to my brother’s place to pick up a gift. Brother Hang, are you tired? Why don’t you take a nap first? I’ll wake you up when we get there.”

Zhan Hang: “Mm.”

However, when the two arrived, Zhao Kaile got out of the car to find someone, but Zhao Kaiming wasn’t at the shop.

The boss holding a thermos recognized him, proactively greeted him, and said with a smile, “Little brother here to see Kaiming? He just told me he went out with friends for a smoke, he’ll be right back. Why don’t you come in and sit? It’s cold outside.”

Zhao Kaile hurriedly thanked him, “No no, I won’t disturb you boss. I’ll wait in the car.”

The boss nodded, glanced at the car parked outside, and said in surprise, “Amazing, you, driving such a nice car at such a young age?”

“It’s not my car, my boss lent it to me.” Zhao Kaile didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, “Haha, how could I afford something like this.”

The two stood chatting for a while. A few minutes passed and they still hadn’t waited for Zhao Kaiming to return. Zhao Kaile felt something was off and looked down to dial his brother’s number.

The call connected but no one answered. After ringing more than ten times, someone hung up.

“…” A bad thought suddenly popped into Zhao Kaile’s mind. He asked nervously, “Do you know who my brother left with? Which direction did they go?”

The boss pointed in confusion to a pitch-black alley next to the internet cafe and said, “Usually we go in there to smoke. Normally we don’t go further in. There are quite a lot of hooligans… I didn’t clearly see who Kaiming left with either. Just a group of guys, dressed decently, shouldn’t be hooligans. Little brother, don’t worry too much.”

Zhao Kaile hurriedly said, “Okay okay, thank you.”

After saying this he walked toward the car, quickly explained the situation to Zhan Hang, then hurriedly ran into the alley.

“??” Zhan Hang was drowsy and hadn’t heard clearly at all. By the time he reacted, Zhao Kaile had already run off with a panicked expression.

He wiped his face to wake himself up, thought for a moment, put on his mask and got out of the car.

The alley was indeed just as the boss described, completely dark. Only at very far intervals would a broken street lamp light up, the kind with poor contact that would occasionally sputter with a “sizzle” to give passersby an unexpected surprise. The alley was filled with a foul smell of smoke and urine, the two mixed together, almost suffocating Zhao Kaile.

“Damn…” He covered his nose, turned on the flashlight on his phone, shone it forward, and walked slowly. Then he redialed Zhao Kaiming’s number.

The surrounding noise of cars and pedestrians coming and going on the street could still be heard, the phone ringtone faintly discernible among it. Zhao Kaile’s ears twitched slightly. He could confirm that Zhao Kaiming was nearby.

“Why aren’t you answering the phone?” Zhao Kaile shouted anxiously, “Zhao Kaiming! Where are you?! Are you deaf?!”

What responded to him was actually a pained low roar. Zhao Kaile’s mind buzzed. Countless vulgar curses were finally clearly extracted from the noisy crowd, piercingly harsh.

“You son of a bitch… I thought you went back to your hometown to hide, but you’ve got quite some guts?”

“You still dare stay here, damn.” Another male voice spat out the cigarette butt from his mouth, then said, “Zhao Kaiming, you’re really sinister. We brothers brought you to make money, and you went into the police station without a word and sold us out? How cheap can you get?”

“Oh? You still have strength to answer the phone.” A low, hoarse male voice laughed, seeming to step on something, and said angrily, “Keep hitting! Beat him to death!”

Zhao Kaile was dazed for a moment, finally understanding. His heart immediately raced wildly. He sprinted toward the source of the sound, one hand trembling uncontrollably, pressing several times on the phone screen before successfully dialing 110.

“I called the police!” he roared, running to the nearest stretch of street lamp, leaning against a concrete pole and gasping heavily. After all, this stretch of intense exercise was practically killing a shut-in.

The several men looked up simultaneously upon hearing this, their eyes unfriendly as they looked at the newcomer.

In this instant, Zhao Kaile was both fearful and nervous, terrified to the extreme, almost suffocating. He forced himself to hold up his phone screen toward the men, looked up, and repeated with forced composure, “I called the police! Let him go immediately!”

The call connected, and the operator’s questioning voice came from the other end.

The leading man looked at him with a half-smile, then his expression suddenly changed. He stepped forward quickly, snatched Zhao Kaile’s phone, pressed him against the wall with a backhand grip, and viciously pinned his arm, pressing until Zhao Kaile cried out in pain.

The operator heard the sound and immediately felt something was wrong, asking again. But the man immediately hung up the phone.

“Little brother, want to play the hero?” The man threw his phone hard to the ground and said mockingly, “Playing the hero also requires some ability.”

Zhao Kaile turned his head with difficulty, looking at Zhao Kaiming who was half sprawled on the ground. He immediately panicked. Zhao Kaiming’s head, body, and face were all covered in blood. One hand was being stepped on and viciously ground underfoot. One eye was swollen almost shut, seemingly on the verge of losing consciousness.

“Zhao Kaiming!” Zhao Kaile shouted angrily, using all his strength to slam the man behind him away. But he was no match after all. The latter quickly reacted and pressed Zhao Kaile back against the wall, his movements effortless, as if holding a little chick.

Hearing his voice, Zhao Kaiming instantly woke up, struggling to open his eyes to find Zhao Kaile’s position. But he was viciously slapped again, his ears buzzing. With blood foam in his mouth, he struggled to roar, “Go… little brother! Run!”

“Little brother?” The man narrowed his eyes, then pinched Zhao Kaile’s chin upon hearing this, sizing him up for a moment.

Zhao Kaile was both fearful and angry in his heart. Seeing him loosen his grip, he wanted to reach out and punch him in the face. The man reacted extremely quickly, immediately catching this punch, twisting it viciously behind his back, and said impatiently, “Didn’t learn your lesson?”

Zhao Kaile cried out in pain, gasping painfully a few times, tears almost spurting out.

“Your brother brought this on himself, little brother.” The man held a cigarette in his mouth, patted his face, and said with a hint of a smile, “Selling out friends means taking this beating.”

“You tricked him into joining.” Zhao Kaile said hatefully, “Swindlers!”

Zhao Kaiming coughed violently a few times and said with difficulty, “No no, it’s brother’s fault… You apologize to the big brothers, the big brothers are magnanimous, they’ll definitely let you go…”

Before he could finish begging for mercy, another person viciously kicked him in the stomach.

“Did I let you speak?” That person said angrily, “Shut your bird mouth, damn it.”

Zhao Kaiming gasped a few times, all strength gone, unable to get up anymore.

That kick felt as if it had landed on his own body. Zhao Kaile’s mind buzzed. He finally couldn’t help but cry out, “fuck your mothers! Let my brother go!!!”

“…My current location is, Number 1256 Xinling Street, the narrow alley next to Minliang Internet Cafe.” A cold male voice gradually approached, “I will not interrupt communication for now. I hope you can arrive as soon as possible.”

The several men were stunned again, turning together to look at the uninvited guest walking quickly under the street lamp.

Zhao Kaile was still trembling, gasping as he looked at the newcomer, his heart suddenly racing wildly. It was Zhan Hang.

Zhan Hang was still wearing his mask. As he walked he put his phone back in his pocket, took off his coat, casually threw it to the side, then sprinted forward. One arm hooked around the leading man’s neck, pressed down viciously, and raised his knee to slam into the man’s lumbar spine!

The man hadn’t reacted at first and immediately grunted in pain. This blow practically made him feel like he was splitting in two! He pushed Zhao Kaile away, reached back to grab Zhan Hang’s arm around his neck, roared, and kicked off the wall, pushing Zhan Hang back a few steps. Zhan Hang was completely unafraid. He withdrew a few steps following the man’s movement, then used the momentum to slam him viciously against the wall! Half the man’s body crashed into the wall surface. The strange creaking sound of flesh and wall colliding rang out. The man only felt his mind buzzing, unable to use his strength for a long time, sliding down to the ground limply.

Zhao Kaile couldn’t believe it. He wiped his tears in a mess, and saw that Zhan Hang didn’t even look at the man on the ground. He took a few quick steps forward and kicked the man next to Zhao Kaiming in the abdomen, sending him stumbling back several steps, falling to the ground with a wail.

The remaining two men looked at each other, realizing they should join forces. They hurriedly shouted and swung their fists at Zhan Hang together. Zhan Hang dodged one punch sideways, caught another person’s with both hands, gripped tight, and swung back with a punch, forcefully slamming it into his companion’s face! The latter screamed, immediately intimidated by his gaze and not daring to move anymore, retreating in fear toward his fallen comrade.

Among the few men, clearly only the leader was a tough one. The rest, every single one, were soft eggs who only knew how to bully people in groups.

Zhan Hang grabbed that man’s collar, his eyes ice-cold, and said in a deep voice, “Don’t want to leave? Then none of you are leaving.”

“I I I…” That man trembled like a sieve, looking with cold sweat at his boss still collapsed against the wall. Knowing he was no match for this trained fighter before him, he immediately begged for mercy, “Sorry! Sorry!”

Zhao Kaile realized they were saved. His legs went soft as he ran to Zhao Kaiming’s side, half supporting him up, his hand still trembling a bit, “Brother? Brother?? Zhao Kaiming are you okay… Zhao Kaiming!!”
