The Second Young Master’s Obedient Husband : Chapter 69
Days passed gradually, and in the blink of an eye it was the autumn harvest season.
The Liang family fields, though most were rented out to tenant farmers, still kept some for themselves. Father Liang was getting on in years, Liang Feng was physically weak, and the county office kept him busy with daily affairs. With only a few servants at home, they could not manage all the work. Though they could hire help, during the autumn harvest everyone was busy gathering crops, so there were not many people available to hire.
Autumn was the season when animals were storing up fat, so hunting was not worthwhile at this time. Liang Yu simply came down from the mountain to help out, planning to go back up hunting only when late autumn arrived.
Su Qingyu came down the mountain with him. Liang Yu would not let him work in the fields, so Su Qingyu helped with odd jobs instead.
The autumn harvest was terribly busy. They had to rise before dawn and only rest when it was completely dark. Su Qingyu could not help with the heavy field work, so he stayed home with Mother Liang and Zhang Yun doing miscellaneous tasks to help out. With the harvest rush, Su’s mother also came to help when she saw the Liang family beginning to gather crops.
Boiling water, washing clothes, feeding livestock, cooking meals… though he did not have to cut wheat, he was still so busy his feet barely touched the ground.
At noon they delivered food. Su Qingyu and Zhang Yun carried the loads together as they walked to the fields. When they arrived, Liang Yu and the others were resting. Seeing him come, Liang Yu took the load, and they called everyone to eat.
Everyone took their food and bowls. Having worked hard all morning, they were starving, and each one ate like wolves and tigers. For a moment no one spoke in the fields.
Liang Yu pulled Su Qingyu to sit down and put the meat from his own bowl into Su Qingyu’s. Su Qingyu pushed it away with a red face, but Liang Yu would not allow it and stuffed it into his mouth.
A few servants nearby saw this and laughed and made a fuss. Su Qingyu’s face grew even redder. He lowered his head and ate, ignoring Liang Yu.
After the meal, the two of them carried the empty loads back to work.
When the sky was nearly dark, Liang Yu finally returned from the fields, covered in sweat and dirt, looking terribly disheveled.
Su Qingyu brought water for him to wash his face and handed him clean clothes. Having worked all day and only eaten something hastily at noon, he was starving by now. Liang Yu simply wiped himself off, changed into clean clothes, and came out to eat.
The whole family sat around the table, all so hungry they attacked their bowls the moment they picked them up. Though no one spoke at the dinner table, the sounds of eating were lively enough that it never felt awkward.
After the meal, they cleared the dishes, and the sky was already completely dark.
Only then did the two of them have time to bathe.
Liang Yu was not particular. He closed the courtyard gate, took off his clothes, and poured the water Su Qingyu had cooled in advance over himself from head to toe. He used soap pods to scrub the dirt clean, and in no time he was finished. He dried off, put on clean clothes, and went to bother Su Qingyu.
Su Qingyu was bathing in the small washroom. He closed the door, mixed the water to the right temperature in the wooden tub, and only then took off his clothes to prepare for his bath.
He took off his outer clothes, and was about to take off the inner ones when he lowered his eyes and froze. Not believing it, he touched again, and his face instantly flamed red.
He was not wearing his undergarment.
…
Liang Yu’s mischievous habits, Su Qingyu had been a bit shy about them at first. But because no one came to the mountain, he gradually got used to it.
Back in the village, naturally they could not be as unrestrained as on the mountain. Last night Su Qingyu had specifically found his undergarment and put it on the bedside to remind himself to wear it, and had warned Liang Yu not to hide it. Last night he only gave in to Liang Yu once and then would not let him carry on.
But this morning he had been in such a rush that he had still forgotten to put it on. He had been running in and out all day, seen many people, and been bustling about in front of so many people… and had not worn his undergarment the entire time.
Fortunately autumn clothes were thicker, so it was not noticeable.
But still… still…
Su Qingyu’s face was red as if it would drip blood. He bit his lip, his mind buzzing, both angry and ashamed.
Liang Yu pushed open the door and saw him frozen in place with a red face. At first he did not understand, but then he saw the half removed clothes in his hand, and suddenly it clicked. He pressed his lips together but still could not hold back a laugh. Su Qingyu grew even angrier hearing the laughter and raised his head to glare at him.
Liang Yu could not stop laughing at all. He covered his face, which only made it more obvious.
Su Qingyu’s face grew even redder. He lowered his head and began taking off his clothes, ignoring him.
Liang Yu pinched his cheeks to stop laughing, closed the door, and walked over, wrapping his arms around his waist from behind to coax him.
Su Qingyu struggled a bit but could not break free, puffing his cheeks and ignoring him.
Liang Yu kissed his lips and said, “You did not notice all day?”
“I forgot…”
“It is all your fault.”
“Yes… all my fault.”
Hearing Liang Yu agree so readily, Su Qingyu’s anger suddenly lessened quite a bit. He leaned in his arms, his voice muffled, “The whole day… not wearing it…”
Liang Yu rubbed his face and comforted him, “No one noticed.”
Su Qingyu raised his head and looked at him, asking, “How do you know?”
“I watched you the whole day. No one was staring at you.”
Su Qingyu froze, his face grew even redder, and he buried himself back in his arms, rubbing against him wildly. Liang Yu held him, smiling as he watched, letting him fuss in his arms.
Once his emotions settled, Su Qingyu spoke up, “From now on you cannot do this anymore.”
“Alright.”
“It is fine this time. Just remember to wear it from now on.”
“You help me remember.”
“Alright.”
Su Qingyu curved his lips, stood on tiptoe, and kissed his lips.
“Bath.”
Liang Yu gave a soft hum and let go.
Su Qingyu took off his clothes and sat in the wooden tub. The comfortably warm water soaked his body, and Su Qingyu leaned back in the tub with half closed eyes, looking wonderfully comfortable.
Liang Yu took a cloth to scrub his back, then used a wooden ladle to pour water from top to bottom, bathing the soft little one.
After the bath, he dried the sweet smelling little one with a towel, dressed him piece by piece in clean clothes, kissed the pretty little one, received a kiss in return, then carried the little one back to the room.
Back in the room and on the bed, Liang Yu handed him the bamboo wife to hold, then embraced him and fanned him with a palm leaf fan.
He kissed the drowsy, half asleep Su Qingyu and coaxed gently, “Sleep.”
Su Qingyu was terribly sleepy but still kissed him back before collapsing in his arms and falling asleep.
Liang Yu’s heart melted at his little gesture. He kissed the little one a while longer before holding him and falling asleep too.
