Deep in the Act: Chapter 32
Gao Zhun came out of the shower, wearing a champagne colored silk pajama set, fiddling with his neatly blow dried hair. When he saw Fang Chi had laid out two separate blankets, he immediately showed an expression of someone who had been wronged, his whole person dimming.
Fang Chi was about to turn off the lights when his phone rang. The caller ID showed “Jia Shao Feng,” Justin’s Chinese name. “Hello,” he answered. “It’s fine. Not a bother.” His voice was stiff and cold. “No, don’t worry.” He glanced thoughtfully at Gao Zhun. “We have regulations. Alright. Goodbye.”
Gao Zhun lay down into one of the blankets, the rims of his eyes red. Fang Chi set down the phone and leaned over. “I’m turning off the lights?”
Gao Zhun looked at him grievously, saying nothing. Fang Chi knew what he was being fussy about. He sighed, turned off the lights, and lay down. The room went dark. The night was very quiet. Gao Zhun tossed and turned in his blanket. “Dr. Fang?” he called. Fang Chi responded and turned over. They couldn’t see each other, only a vague silhouette.
Gao Zhun crawled out of his own blanket. Face, restraint, he wanted none of it. Sticky and clingy, he tried to burrow into Fang Chi’s blanket. Fang Chi seemed very afraid of him, reaching out a hand to push him away. That hand was caught by Gao Zhun. “Don’t reject me…”
He was like a lover who couldn’t get enough, guiding Fang Chi’s hand to touch his own body. His still damp cheeks, his chest pounding wildly, down to his soft warm belly, and his fully erect lower body. His two thighs twisted without stopping. “Please… it’s been so long…”
Fang Chi’s hand went soft, his whole person somewhat dazed. Gao Zhun pressed his advantage, slipping into his blanket like a swimming fish. A burning hot body, wrapped in expensive silk, slick and slippery, pressing against his chest. Fang Chi’s head throbbed, his temples pulsing one beat after another. His groin was the first to be pressed against. Just like yesterday, Gao Zhun was swaying his hips and rubbing there.
It was hard to say how much pleasure this kind of rubbing through clothes could bring, but Fang Chi simply couldn’t help himself. He wrapped his arms around Gao Zhun’s waist and flipped him underneath, propping himself above him and gazing at him obsessively. His eyes gradually adapted to the darkness. The person below seemed to shine and shimmer. Every expression carried a lingering warmth. Gao Zhun seemed unable to wait for such leisurely scrutiny. He licked his moist lips, thrusting his own hips upward to rub against Fang Chi, letting out soft hums as he rubbed.
Fang Chi felt like he had exploded, blown to pieces. Only that “sexual energy” Freud spoke of was dominating him in this chaos of desire. He pressed down on Gao Zhun with all his might, pressing him deep into the mattress. Then he suddenly raised his hips and slammed his hardened lower body down with great force. Gao Zhun bounced from the impact, letting out a cry of surprise at the same time. It was a somewhat lewd sound.
He hadn’t expected Fang Chi to be like this. He looked at him a bit fearfully. Before this wave of shock had passed, Fang Chi slammed down a second time. This time was even harder. All his force was concentrated in that small space between his legs. The feeling was like his soul was being knocked out of his body. Gao Zhun cried out from the unbearable sensation. His cries made Fang Chi even more unbearable. The two of them were like a pair of overlapping sine and cosine waves, chasing and tangling with each other.
Fang Chi slammed faster and faster, so fast that Gao Zhun was almost moaning like he was in bed. If he kept listening to this, there was no telling what he might do. Fang Chi commanded in a hoarse voice, “Don’t make noise!”
Gao Zhun was so scared he quickly covered his mouth with his hand. But the boiling cries still spilled out with each impact. Fang Chi seemed a bit unsure how to handle him. He grabbed the hand covering Gao Zhun’s mouth, pulled it open to either side, and pressed it down beside his head. With his burning hot palm, he rubbed Gao Zhun’s delicate palm. Gao Zhun was like a cat whose tail had been grabbed, crying out in a way that made Fang Chi’s heart ache.
“Don’t make noise…” Fang Chi seemed to be pleading. “Please don’t make noise!”
“I… I…” Gao Zhun simply had no way. His throat seemed not his own. His lower body wasn’t either. It had melted into a pool of water, a handful of honey, scattered across the creaking mattress. “S… sorry…”
The phone on the nightstand rang. It was Gao Zhun’s. The fluorescent blue screen shone dazzlingly bright in the darkness. With one turn of his head, Fang Chi could see it. The caller was Justin. Gao Zhun wanted to get up to answer, but Fang Chi wouldn’t let him. He held his wrist down firmly, like he was holding down his own woman. Gao Zhun drew breath in short and long gasps. “The company… there might be something…”
“Are you going to answer the phone like this?” Fang Chi lifted his butt from behind, like an impatient brute, panting and thrusting. “Let them hear you like this?”
Gao Zhun couldn’t believe his movements. His silk pajama pants were pulled so far they were almost sliding off his butt. He helplessly gripped the collar of Fang Chi’s T shirt. “Stop a moment. Stop first…”
Fang Chi couldn’t possibly listen to him. He pinched his butt for all he was worth. The ringing stopped, then started again after a moment. In this deadly cycle of ringing and stopping, Gao Zhun came, toes curled tight, moaning and groaning, wave after wave, all shooting into his underwear.
Fang Chi was surprised he had climaxed so quickly. It was just a makeshift scratching of an itch through a boot. Gao Zhun’s reaction made him even more excited. He thrust down fast and hard with increasing force. Large amounts of fluid soaked through the underwear, some overflowing from the fabric edges, staining the half pulled down silk pajama pants. Gao Zhun was completely unconsciously humming, his thighs relaxed and spread open. The cooling semen grew stickier and stickier with each thrust, making “squelch squelch” sounds.
Gao Zhun seemed to be getting hard again. Sensing his sensitivity, Fang Chi simply went mad thrusting into him. When he pressed in, he seemed reluctant to leave, grinding in a circle erotically before pulling back to gather momentum for another thrust. After just a few rounds of this, he came. He gripped Gao Zhun’s slender waist tight, gripping him so hard he almost sat up. His head spun dizzily, as if it were about to snap in half.
Their lower bodies pressed together without the slightest gap. Fang Chi held his butt, pants pulled down, bouncing up and down as he released himself. He bounced for a full half minute before satisfyingly loosening his grip, falling back onto the bed with Gao Zhun. Then came violent panting. It had been so long since either of them had been like this. Even the exhaustion after climax felt so pleasant. Soon the phone rang again. Gao Zhun mumbled, patting Fang Chi’s shoulder. “Phone…”
Fang Chi obediently fumbled it over for him, listening as he answered, speaking in a voice clearly carrying a coquettish tone. “Hello?”
The night was so quiet, quiet enough that Fang Chi could hear Justin’s tone on the other end of the phone. He anxiously scolded, “Boss, why didn’t you answer your phone so late!”
“Huh?” Gao Zhun was still immersed in the afterglow of sex, his whole person lazy and languid. “Justin?”
As he spoke, he breathed slowly and steadily, very sexy and very lost in it. There was no sound on the other end of the phone. After a moment, there was a click, and the call disconnected. Gao Zhun lazily loosened his fingers. The phone swayed and fell onto the bed. One couldn’t tell if he was innocent or wanton. His two arms wrapped around Fang Chi’s neck, uneasily saying, “So comfortable… really so comfortable…”
Fang Chi caressed him tenderly, tidying up the pajamas he had pulled into disarray while playing with his slender fingers. He was so gentle that Gao Zhun got carried away with delight. “Kiss me… okay?”
Fang Chi seemed to have a switch pressed. He suddenly stopped moving. Gao Zhun immediately panicked. “Just once. Just once!”
Fang Chi pulled down the arms that were clinging to him, heartlessly rolling off to the side, turning his back to him.
The next day at the company, Gao Zhun’s eyes were red. In the afternoon there was an art exhibition preparation meeting. The seven or eight people under him, plus Justin who was temporarily leading the project, sat around a table discussing lighting and material details. Gao Zhun was a bit distracted. Justin observed him frequently, just looking for an opportunity to say a word to him, when the red light on the internal line phone lit up. Gao Zhun answered impatiently. The front desk secretary’s voice rang sweetly through the conference room. “Boss Gao, a Mr. Fang is here to see you. He says he’s your landlord.”
Gao Zhun was taken aback. When he reacted, that knowing joy was completely impossible to hide. “Send him up,” he pressed the speakerphone firmly, his upper body leaning far forward. “Wait,” he suddenly changed his mind. “Have him wait. I’ll come down.” Just as he was about to let go, he added, “Prepare coffee, or tea, both. Ask him which one he wants!”
Justin had never seen him like this, like a child trying every possible way to please someone. He tossed him a “listen for me” and hurriedly left the conference room. Justin sat there in a daze, frowning in his spacious boss chair. After a brief thought, he lifted his leg and stood up, saying to the execution planner beside him, “You all discuss. Take notes.”
There were two elevators. One had already gone down to the fifteenth floor. The other was dark and stopped. He didn’t think twice before pressing the button, like a stalker with ulterior motives, chasing down without hesitation.
Gao Zhun got out of the elevator and spotted Fang Chi in the waiting area at first glance. Tall, metal rimmed glasses. On the small round table beside him sat a cup of hot tea. So he likes tea, Gao Zhun thought, quickly walking over. “Dr. Fang!”
Justin got out of the elevator one step behind him, walking toward the front desk without showing anything. The receptionist saw him and smiled and nodded. He tapped his fingers on the counter. “Has Mr. Zhang from Crystal Vision arrived?”
The front desk clerk quickly flipped through the visitor log and told him no. He asked for a lighter, lit a cigarette, and stood in the shade of a nearby decorative tree, secretly peering toward the waiting area.
“Why did you come,” Gao Zhun was so joyful his face was flushed red, somewhat shyly lowering his head. “What a surprise…”
Fang Chi clearly didn’t want to chat long. He didn’t sit down, nor did he touch that cup of tea. “I have a tea gathering today on short notice,” he reached into his pants pocket. “Will you be afraid being alone tonight?” He pulled out a key.
Zhang Zhun stared at that small piece of metal, wanting it desperately, yet unwilling to just take it like that. “The whole night?” There was something of a spoiled tone as he asked, “Can’t you not go?”
“I have to leave now,” Fang Chi grabbed his hand and stuffed the key into it. “It’ll probably end around midnight. I’ll try to come back early.” He squeezed that hand, not at ease, instructing him, “If you can’t sleep, there are discs in the cabinet next to the TV. Pick something you like to watch. If you get scared, call me.”
Gao Zhun nodded obediently. Fang Chi pulled him a bit closer, reluctant to part. “Today’s treatment is canceled, but I have an assignment for you,” they were so close they were almost pressed together. “Make your feelings clear to Justin. Tell him you’re afraid of him, that you hate those things he does.”
“I’ve told him before…”
“Tell him again. More firmly,” Fang Chi demanded forcefully. “Say it in a semi enclosed environment, the kind where there are people around but they won’t disturb you. If there’s a door, leave it open. Can you do it?”
How could Gao Zhun say no to him, leaning in as if to melt into his chest. “I can. I’ll tell him right after the meeting.”
Fang Chi pushed him away. “Then I’m off. I’m already late.”
Gao Zhun walked him to the main entrance, clinging and reluctant, like a lover long accustomed to loneliness. Fang Chi deliberately didn’t look back. He found his car, pulled open the door, got in, fastened his seatbelt, started the engine, shifted into gear, and smoothly slid onto the main road in one fluid motion.
The radio was talking about the effects of smoking on pregnancy. He didn’t change the station, because his mind was full of Gao Zhun’s image. Daytime, nighttime, like he had a fever or had taken drugs. There weren’t many cars on the road. As he drove, he blamed himself, reflecting on last night’s pervert like behavior. He had driven for about ten minutes when a call came in. Justin’s. He answered on speaker.
“Mr. Jia, I’m driving. We can talk later…”
“Fang Chi, you’re fucking playing me!”
Fang Chi didn’t speak. Justin was like a bull that couldn’t hit the red cloth, his anger flaring even higher. “Going behind my back with your little tricks, you think you’re so smart!”
Fang Chi immediately realized he had seen them. The key, the hands clasped together, the ambiguous atmosphere. These were enough to make him lose control. “Mr. Jia, can you explain clearly, what did I do?”
“I don’t have time to waste words with you. If I hadn’t come up for the meeting, I would have already smashed your face in!”
This meant he had just finished the meeting. Gao Zhun probably hadn’t had the chance to talk to him yet. Fang Chi had only one thought, which was to calm him down. “Mr. Jia…”
“You mother fucker!” Justin cursed viciously and hung up.
One second, maybe not even one second later, Fang Chi flicked on his left turn signal, his palm slamming the horn frantically. He forced his way across two lanes to the left. At a left turn red light, he made a U turn and drove back. The tachometer needle was shaking the whole time. The speed was definitely over sixty miles per hour. Cars around him kept honking at him. He couldn’t hear them. The expert tea gathering his graduate school mentor had invited him to, he threw it to the back of his mind. Like the male lead in a romance movie, he drove obsessively into the endless stream of traffic.
When he got back, there were no parking spaces. He simply left his car on the road, didn’t even lock the door, and ran toward the building. Fortunately, the front desk clerk hadn’t changed shifts. He rushed over. “What floor is Gao Zhun on?”
She recognized him and handed him the visitor log. “Twenty third floor, the leftmost room.”
Fang Chi had always considered himself steady and composed, able to keep a calm face even if Mount Tai collapsed before him. But at this moment, holding the pen, he was actually shaking so much he couldn’t write. The front desk, whether out of sympathy or trust, actually let him in. He took the elevator to the twenty third floor. Gao Zhun wasn’t in his room. Fang Chi panicked. He grabbed someone and asked. The person looked at him like he was crazy. “He’s in the meeting room with Mr. Jia.”
The meeting room door was closed. Fang Chi thought, it’s over! He used all his strength, but the door wasn’t locked. He stumbled in like a reckless fool.
Gao Zhun and Justin were sitting face to face, seemingly having a relaxed conversation. Fang Chi couldn’t help but roar, “Why wasn’t the door open!”
Gao Zhun was terrified, slowly standing up. “I’m sorry… I forgot.”
Fang Chi’s whole body was soaked in sweat, glaring at Justin. “Gao Zhun,” he could see the latent explosive power in Justin’s seemingly relaxed posture, leaning back against the chair. “Come here!”
Gao Zhun moved toward him with trained obedience. Fang Chi grabbed him and turned to leave. Gao Zhun asked in confusion, “Aren’t you…”
“Not going anymore.”
Down the elevator, out the main door. The Volvo’s hazard lights were still flashing. Fang Chi had Gao Zhun sit in the passenger seat. Gao Zhun pulled his hand back, shrinking away. “I don’t…”
Fang Chi pulled open the car door for him and forcefully stuffed him inside. He walked around the hood and got in. Gao Zhun was so scared his limbs pressed tight against the seat. “What’s wrong… what’s wrong with you?”
Fang Chi leaned over, without a word, and fastened his seatbelt for him. He tried several times but couldn’t get it fastened. “Stop shaking!” he snapped in frustration. Gao Zhun bit his teeth and endured, his tightly pressed lips right by Fang Chi’s temple. Fang Chi let go of that clumsy seatbelt, pinched his chin, and kissed him.
