Chapter 14: Tiger on hunting

“Violence should never be the answer.” Pat, pat, pat!

The sound of the pillow hitting the still figure resonated loudly. Thian was hit squarely on the shoulder. Instead of feeling pain, the light, cat-like force made him chuckle softly, accompanied by a playful look.

An irritated Mangkon was also kind of cute… and it gradually made the previous annoyance about Sming fade away.

“Ouch, honey, that hurts!” “Inspector!”

Thwack!

He got hit again. Still angry, Mangkon grabbed another long pillow and swung it again. This time, the older man quickly raised his arms to defend himself.

“Ouch, that’s enough, honey.”

“Don’t pretend. I’m already being nice by not punching you.”

Using violence isn’t a peaceful solution, but this kind of person needs to be taught a lesson.

Mangkon continued relentlessly, putting more force into the hits, hoping the cunning Inspector would realize something. But it seemed that wasn’t happening, with the teasing laughter and the provocative expressions being sent his way.

“If hitting me makes my wife less angry, I’m okay with it.” I’m going crazy on a daily basis.

Sweet cheeks gradually flushed from the cunning words. Because of the embarrassment, he put even more force into the hits, but he was tricked. The older man, taking advantage of his larger body, leaned back onto the bed and pulled the younger man down with him, grabbing Mangkon’s wrist, who was now caught in a strong embrace.

“Ouch, Inspector, not again.”

“It’s just… teasing you is so cute.” “Inspector!”

“Are you interested in him?”

The sudden, unexpected question made the person in the embrace stop struggling momentarily. His fine eyebrows furrowed together in confusion, wondering what he was trying to imply.

“Me? Interested in Senior? I respect him like an older brother,” he said, the answer making the older man feel slightly relieved.

“But he seems interested in you.”

“Inspector’s eyes must have a problem. You should get them checked.” Saming hadn’t seemed to do anything like that.

“Heh, your eyes have a problem. He looks at you without taking his eyes off you like.”

Thian tightened his embrace another level. What would Mangkon know? That Lampang Inspector was looking at his wife so sweetly.

“And why aren’t you wearing your ring today?”

Mangkon still didn’t understand. The ring was never an issue. He wore it normally at home, but when he went out, he would take it off and keep it safe. However, this time was different. If the silver ring adorned his finger, Inspector Saming would know the truth – who Inspector Thian’s wife was.

“So, Inspector wants Senior to know?” “It’s his business if he knows.”

“So he’ll stop looking at another man’s woman.” “Inspector!”

Mangkon’s heart pounded erratically. The word “wife” was tolerable, but this was “woman.” This was too much for Mangkon!

He wasn’t anyone’s “woman!”

The person in the embrace looked for a way to retaliate. Even though the long pillow had fallen to the floor earlier, his bare hands could be used as weapons. Small fists punched the strong chest. He wasn’t used to Inspector hugging him, but it felt good in his heart.

“Do you know yet about the Black Bull gang’s transfer being cancelled to Lampang?” Thian asked.

“I know. Senior told me already.”

“I’m starting to wonder if maybe the person behind this is someone close.” “You mean…?”

“Police connections, honey.”

His little brain was thinking hard and considering the words. It was highly possible that their big boss was someone in the police force. During the middle of the day when they went out to inspect the area with Inspector Saming, he wasn’t sure if what he heard was correct or not. But during a phone call, the other person responded,

“It’s done, sir.”

“Nothing to worry about.”

It seemed like a typical conversation between a boss and subordinate. Even so, there was a time when Mangkon secretly inquired about this case and Saming would always dodge the question and change the subject.

Something wasn’t right.

“And will you accept that, Inspector?”

“What kind of person do you think I am?” There was no way he would give in easily.

Three days passed.

Suddenly, there was an order to suspend the transfer of the Black Bull gang again. This time, it was a supreme order from the head of the National Police Bureau, so no one could override it.

For Muang Chiang Mai Police Station, this was a good thing. But the young Inspector from Lampang seemed upset about what happened.

Saming walked straight to the office of Police Chief Aasin, where both Kanin and Thian were also present. The door was yanked open with emotion, the loud slam causing everyone in the room to turn and stare. The expression on the Lampang Inspector’s face was full of anger, as if his dignity was being trampled.

“Was it you who stopped the order?” Saming said, enunciating each word clearly. “What do you mean, Inspector Saming?” Aasin was the one who replied.

“I thought that Lampang could handle this better, and I could do better than you, Thian,” the young Lampang Inspector said, staring directly at Thian challengingly. Finally, the person whose name was mentioned raised his face from the files in his hand and replied,

“Do you think that on your own, Saming?”

“I mean, was it you, Thian, who used your father’s connections to suspend the transfer order of the Black Bull gang!”

The space between Thian’s eyebrows furrowed at the accusation. What was Saming getting at? And why was he so angry? The person who could control his emotions better replied in a soft voice.

“I need to emphasize once again that I don’t need to use any connections. The higher-ups have probably already considered who is the most suitable to handle this matter.”

Thian’s words made Saming so furious he was about to explode. “You want a piece of me, Thain?!”

“Inspector Saming! You’re in a meeting, not a marketplace!” Chief Aasin reprimanded. How could a high-ranking police officer behave in this manner?

As soon as he finished speaking, the blazing eyes of the Lampang Inspector seemed to have flames ignited within them. Saming gritted his teeth and slammed the door open as he left.

“You’re stealing everything from me again, Thian.”

The atmosphere in the room relaxed again, and it was Nadol who spoke. “Inspector Saming is acting strangely, Inspector Thian, Chief.”

“Saming is interesting, don’t you think?” Aasin nodded slightly, as if he understood what his subordinate was trying to convey, without answering.

The small meeting concluded, as well as the day’s work. Evening arrived, and the stress of several cases was piling up. Thian felt like going out as a bachelor, even though he wasn’t one. However, both Mangkon and he were well aware of their situation.

There was no romantic relationship with anyone else, just looking at girls to refresh his heart a little.

The “fate-correcting” husband and wife still went home together as usual, but today, the cunning Inspector was acting strangely. He simply stated that he had urgent business and might be late, and he was quick to shower and dress up more handsome than usual.

Mangkon really wanted to ask, but if it was personal, it seemed too intrusive, so he didn’t say anything and just nodded as if he understood.

“You go to sleep before me tonight.” “Alright. I never wait up for you anyway.” “Or maybe I won’t come back.”

He said flatly, while setting his hair. Thian intended it as a joke, but the unknowing person was misinterpreting the meaning.

He understands what that business means.

Mangkon’s face fell, unnoticed. Mangkon walked out of the bedroom immediately, a sharp pain flashing through, weakening his body and mind.

You shouldn’t feel this way, Mangkon.

The lights and sound were intense in a famous pub near Tha Pae Gate. Loud music reverberated throughout, and there were more people relaxing and releasing stress on that Saturday night than usual. Talking required shouting.

“Inspector, are you picking up any ‘kids’ tonight?” Lieutenant Nadol shouted at the top of his lungs, but his boss still couldn’t hear or respond.

“He can’t hear you. Look at his eyes; he’s checking out the girls all over the place,” Kanin, who was next to him, leaned over and whispered in Lieutenant Nadol’s white ear.

“I never thought a well-behaved kid like you would come to a pub.” “Move away, Kanin. Why are you talking so close to me?”

“How else would you hear me?”

The more he resisted, the more Kanin moved closer and closer to the well-behaved lieutenant, and was surprised that this soft-faced guy came to nightclubs. He needed to revise his thinking.

“Move away, Kanin.”

“Let me sit closer to you, Nong Nadol.” “Who’s your Nong?”

“You’re younger than me.”

Thian, who had been gazing into the distance, turned back when he heard the two arguing back and forth. But he could only shake his head because no one could ever stop Kanin’s teasing.

“Inspector, want to take a picture?”

Several police officers who came along asked, without thinking too much about it, so their boss agreed.

Today was a small gathering of police officers at the Chiang Mai City Police Station. Counting heads, there were a total of eight officers.

The same old good police sergeant raised his hand and called the staff to come and help take pictures. After arranging the seats and getting into position, they took the picture and immediately sent it to the group chat.

“I’ve sent the pictures in the group chat. There’s a beautiful girl next to Inspector too!” “Thank you, Sergeant Serm.”

“Oops, Inspector. Nong Mangkon reply asking if you weren’t going to invite him?” “S-Sergeant Serm, what did you say?”

“Here, Nong Mangkon replied.”

Thian pricked up his ears at those words and quickly grabbed his phone to open and view the picture, which he had forgotten that Mangkon was a member of the group.

“Shit,” the exclamation drew attention. “Is something wrong, Inspector?” Shit, this is really bad.

He didn’t intend to lie, but going to a club at night like this was a personal matter. But what made his heart beat even faster than the rhythm of the rap music was the picture that Sergeant Serm had sent to the group a moment ago.

It was a picture of him standing with a beautiful female staff member, and they were quite close. But *he* hadn’t gotten close to her, she leaned in herself.

Dark eyes stared at the phone, wondering what he should reply if Mangkon sent a message. “Inspector, what are you staring at your phone so intensely for?”

“Here, here, Nong Mangkon replied in the group.” “Having fun, especially Inspector Thian.”

The simple answer didn’t seem to have any hidden meaning, but it made Thian swallow hard and felt like he was struck by lightning.

His sharp eyes stared at the same message over and over again. At first, he thought he’d come to relieve stress and find some girls to cheer him up, but now it had all turned upside down.

Will he misunderstand?

He’s not having anything with anyone. “Hey, cheers, Inspector!”

Thian’s expression didn’t improve at all. He didn’t seem like himself. At first, he thought he’d let it go, but in the end, he decided to go into the private chat and tap the small letters to compose a sentence.

“I don’t have a girl.” His heart was focused on the reply, and three minutes later… “It’s your business.”

No, I really don’t have anyone.

What is this feeling of fear?! But now all I know is I have to go home.
