Chapter 29: Inspector Thian’s wife
So, this is what good love is like. No need to chase or beg, just let it move at a rhythm that fits perfectly.
After Thian had both Mangkon’s body and his heart, the young inspector became a devoted lover by default. Any young man or woman who got close to Mangkon received a murderous glare from him, forcing them to back off every time. Even Nong Plub teased, “P’Mangkon has a personal bodyguard now.”
Relationships should start from learning about each other, progressing to being lovers, and then getting married. However, their relationship started with marriage, led to falling in love, and then divorce, ultimately circling back to square one.
“Why are you so spaced out? What are you thinking about?” the driver asked in a deep voice, noticing the younger man gazing out the window.
“Just thinking about random things,” Mangkon replied. “Are you worried about something?”
Mangkon turned to look at the person next to him and gave a sweet smile. Was it real or a dream that he was sitting beside this person again?
“I just didn’t think P’Thian would like me.” “You said you didn’t like being tied down.”
“Now I want to be tied down. I want to have Mangkon, I want to wake up and see this cute face, I want to hug, I want to kiss, I want to make you happy.”
“People can change, but my love hasn’t changed. It’s actually growing more every day.” “Thank you for giving me a chance,”
“I also thank you, P’Thian.”
Two obsessed lovers meeting each other, this is how it is. On the way to the destination, Thian seemed to want to express his love to the fullest. He needed to touch and feel to feel at ease.
“Can you let go of my hand now?”
“No, I won’t let go. Mangkon’s hands are very soft.” “But driving with one hand is dangerous.”
He really couldn’t believe him. Mangkon sighed deeply. He nagged, he glared, but Thian still pretended not to notice, his face beaming like a happy man, unfazed. There were even moments when he’d lift Mangkon’s white hand and kiss it lightly.
“Should I formally introduce myself to Mangkon’s mom today?” “As a former son-in-law?”
“Not former. I’m the last and forever.” “Listen to you,” Mangkon replied
“It’s true. That day, I was already Mangkon’s husband in nature,”
Mangkon’s cheeks turned crimson on both sides, his heart swelling with an indescribable feeling. What the other man said was true, it had already happened. Who would have thought the first time would be so good? And Thian even brought him to multiple orgasms.
“You can call me ‘husband’, too,” Thian added, flashing a mischievous smile. “P’Thian!”
A soft laugh followed. If you thought you’d have a chance to trick the cunning inspector, you’d be disappointed. Even if you follow one step, Thian’s skills will put him two steps ahead.
The atmosphere in the car on the way to the young police sergeant’s house was filled with love. Today, Thian intended to pay respects to and apologize to Mangkon’s mother for everything that happened.
The luxurious European car moved into a small alley in a quiet village in Phayao Province. Both sides of the road were lined with trees and neatly arranged houses. A small house with an orchard surrounding it appeared in front of them, so shady that it felt warm from the first sight.
“We’re here,” Mangkon said.
“What should I say to Mangkon’s mom?” “Say what?”
“Tell her that I love her son very much.” Loved him beyond measure.
The declaration of love made Mangkon freeze for a moment before turning his face away to hide the blush that appeared on his cheeks.
Both got out of the car. The homeowner’s son acted relaxed, but the person who followed him was tense, as if not being himself.
“Are you okay, P’Thian?” Mangkon asked. “I’m nervous somehow,” Thian admitted.
Had married her son, and divorced him too. Today he was coming to ask for another chance. It would be a blessing if the mother-in-law didn’t verbally tear him to shreds.
“Mom, I’m back.”
“Who did you bring with you?”
“It wasn’t me who wanted to come here. The inspector wanted to come himself.” The homeowner welcomed both of them warmly. She had known all the stories from
Pharada before. This fake marriage had ended in divorce, but something new was starting.
“I want to pay respects to my mother-in-law,” Thian said. The first round has begun. If you want the son, you have to win the mother’s heart.
Butsaba, who was placing scissors, paused slightly, but after a moment, she laughed softly. “Pray to the Buddha, son. You’ve come tired, let’s find some water to drink first.”
Throughout the day, Thian was scoring points. The tall man was helping the mother-in-law with her work very well. His actions were full of intention. Their conversation flowed even smoother than water. She didn’t feel resentful at all, because now her son also loved this inspector.
When dinner arrived, the menu was laid out on the table in full. During the meal, all three talked in a friendly atmosphere, but Thian didn’t stop dropping sweet words.
“Looking at something, P’Thian?”
“Cute,” the older man replied with a smile. His eyes fixed on the younger man without wavering.
“Stop looking,” Mangkon quickly said.
“I can’t,” Thian said in a soft voice. “I want to keep this image in my heart.” “Ahem, Mom’s still here, you kids,” Butsaba said
The sweetness in the atmosphere made her unable to stop herself from laughing. Even though she sees her son has grown into a young man, but for her, Mangkon is still a child in her eyes. The boy who used to play in the garden has turned into a strong police sergeant today. And now it seems like there is an additional status.
“Mrs Butsaba.” “What’s up, son?”
“May I take care of Nong Mangkon? I love him, I want to take care of your son forever,” “P’Thian!”
Mangkon almost choked on his rice because he didn’t expect the other party to say that at this moment. The straightforward words made him too shy to handle it.
Butsaba laughed brightly, placing her chopsticks down and looking at the young man in front of her seriously.
“What do you mean by saying that, Inspector?”
“I really love Mangkon, Mrs Butsaba. I want to take care of him, not just today, but every day of my life.”
The atmosphere around the table quieted down for a moment. Mangkon’s face turned red to his ears; he didn’t dare to look up at anyone. Butsaba herself had a faint smile and nodded understandingly. Whatever makes her son happy, she would never object.
“I don’t mind, son, but it all depends on Mangkon. If my son is willing to give you a chance, don’t disappoint him.”
Thian quickly raised his hands in a wai with gratitude.
“Thank you. I promise I will never make Mangkon sad again, ever.”
The smaller man sitting and listening felt both shy and warmed inside of heart. The flush on his face made Thian even more infatuated. Had anyone ever told the inspector that being too direct was bad? Meaning, not good for his heart.
After the early evening meal was finished, the two had to excuse themselves to leave. He really wanted to stay, but the work piled up at the station like a mountain and he couldn’t get away for long.
At exactly 8:00 PM, the streetlights illuminated the road enough to see the way at night. The luxurious car moved along the small road that wound through lush green trees. The route looked unfamiliar, not the way back to the police accommodation as it should be.
“P’Thian, why aren’t you taking the same route back?” The clear voice asked, turning to look at the person next to him with curiosity.
“Trust me,”
The evening wind blew in through the car window that was slightly open, bringing the scent of damp earth and faint grass into the car. The quietness of the surrounding atmosphere made Mangkon not ask any further.
“Shall we go to the flower festival?” Thian said suddenly.
“P’, what made you want to go to the flower festival?” Mangkon asked. “Well, I wanted to go with Mangkon.”
“But P’Thian is the one driving, you can go anywhere anyway,” the younger man replied, feeling trapped by Thian
“But I have to ask my wife first,” “Your words…”
The owner of the round face turned away, hiding a small smile that appeared around the corners of his mouth. The feeling inside his heart was slowly warming up little by little. When will he get used to such actions? But the feeling was indescribably good.
“Then let’s go to the flower festival, shall we?” “Uh-huh, let’s go.”
The flower festival they were referring to was the ASEAN Flower Festival held at the Mae Kok River Beautiful Garden area. There would be a variety of flowers on display for tourists to admire the beauty of nature.
Today the weather was particularly cold. Before getting out of the car, Thian didn’t forget to grab a thick jacket to put on Mangkon. He didn’t want to overlook these little things, because for him, Mangkon was the most important person.
“Put this on, you might get sick,” the young inspector said, slowly unfolding the jacket for the younger man.
“Did P’Thian prepare this too?”
“I have to, you’re a very important person.”
A shake of the head occurred gently. Since entering the event, the small, slender hands had never been let loose. Thian’s large hand held onto them constantly, as if afraid he would run away and disappear.
“Are the flowers beautiful?” “They’re very beautiful, P’Thian.”
The event was decorated with various kinds of flowers. The soft fragrance from the flowers and the decorative lights at night made the atmosphere warm and romantic.
Those round eyes surveyed, moving around and exploring. However, the eyes of the person asking the question did not pay attention to the flowers in front of him at all. His dark,
jet-black eyes were still fixed on the face of the person next to him. It was far more beautiful than those flowers.
“But Mangkon is more beautiful.” “P’Thian!”
A thick hand gently stroked the soft hair. It was that time after all, the time he had been waiting for.
The young inspector took the younger man’s hand and led him north, passing both the clothing and food zones. The lights gradually faded and disappeared altogether.
Mangkon still didn’t understand where the inspector was taking him. The atmosphere grew quieter and quieter until he reached a point where there was only starlight and a cool breeze.
Suddenly, orange lights lit up around the area. The sound of multiple footsteps approached. Several police officers appeared, holding signs with letters arranged to spell:
‘Marry Me’
A pair of round eyes widened in shock. His heart began to beat erratically. A small hand covered his mouth, as if unwilling to believe this was real.
Turning his gaze back to the person responsible, he found Inspector Thian kneeling in front of him, opening the same ring box that once belonged to him.
“Mangkon, I know that the first time you wore this ring, it may not have started from love. But now I want it to be the starting point of our real love.”
The words were carefully composed, expressed through serious eyes and a firm tone. “There will be no more ‘wife to fix fate.’ There will only be a real wife.”
“I won’t make Mangkon sad. I promise with all my remaining life, I can’t live without Mangkon.”
Thian described all the feelings in his heart. Having been born for thirty-four years and faced so many life-threatening situations, there was no time that his heart ached so much as when Mangkon left.
“P’Thian…”
“This ring wants to go back to its owner,” “Marry me. Be Inspector Thian wife.”
That gentle, round face was coated with drops of clear tears. Memories of the past, every moment, flashed through his head, both happy and sad. There was no reason at all for him to decline.
The one who helped him overcome fear. The one who made him strong.
And the one who had saved his life countless times.
With a slightly trembling hand, Mangkon extended it forward, nodding in acknowledgement. “I will marry you. I will.”
“Once we’re married, there’s no turning back, okay?” “Yeah, there’s no turning back.”
Joy overflowed until Thian couldn’t hold it in anymore. He quickly put the ring back in its rightful place. He stood up to his full height and pulled the other man into a tight hug, as if not wanting anyone to take him away. Cheers and applause resounded all around, everyone rejoicing with the couple.
“Why are you crying, hmm?” “I… I’m just happy.”
“Should we have a big wedding this time? So I can announce to everyone that Mangkon is my wife.”
“P’Thian!” “What is it?”
“Um, I love you.” “I love you too.”
Mangkon nestled his face against his strong chest. The warmth of the hug confirmed Thian’s promise better than any words could.
Who would have thought that in this lifetime he would marry the same person twice? But this time it was different because it was filled with love, intention, and a firm promise.
The inspector known for his endless flirtations had to get married to fix bad luck. From not wanting to marry at first, he had turned into someone who didn’t want to let go of this person anywhere.
The position of Inspector Thian’s wife would only have one person: Sergeant Mangkon, who would forever hold the heart of this cunning inspector.
