He Only Shows His True Colors in Front of Me : Chapter 17

That night, after returning home, Sheng Yannian suffered from insomnia.

He had already exercised for more than two hours, but he lay on the bed with a blank expression. Logically, he should have felt exhausted after such a workout, but every nerve in his body seemed to be jumping, accelerating the flow of his blood. He stared at the ceiling, lost in thought, yet his mind kept replaying Gu Yuanqiao’s low chuckle as he cast his gaze downward during the day, as well as his affectionate and coquettish behavior. “Damn it…” he cursed under his breath in the darkness, the heat constantly radiating toward his lower abdomen. Soon, as if things were spiraling out of control, frame after frame of steamy images flashed by, along with the memory of that person panting softly and entwined beneath him. The sounds, the images, and the sensations were like addictive poison; he knew he shouldn’t be like this, but he couldn’t help but recall and fantasize. He was no different from a group of horny virgins going through puberty. “Tch…”

After fighting with himself for over ten minutes, he finally resigned himself to getting up and walking toward the bathroom. The freezing water sprayed from the showerhead, drenching his body and reducing the burning sensation within, but it was still just a drop in the bucket. Sheng Yannian braced his hands against the wall, and eventually, his hand gripped his erect member, starting to stroke up and down. He closed his eyes, still imagining Gu Yuanqiao beneath him. That person was completely different in and out of bed; when making love, he could only be described as uninhibited. It was as if, having been used to being serious in his daily life, he was indulging himself as a form of revenge.

Delicate collarbones, firm breasts, a flat abdomen, a slender and straight waist, soft and tender thighs, and ankles he could grip with one hand. When he bullied him, those fox eyes would glare fiercely, but his mouth would pout slightly, as if he had suffered some tremendous grievance. Gu Yuanqiao probably didn’t know that this look only fueled his desire to torment him. And when it became unbearable, Gu Yuanqiao’s brows would knit slightly, his eyes lowering. He would bite his lower lip, which was flushed from being kissed, and hum a tune that was neither too soft nor too loud. When he remained still, that usually thin, taut waist would begin to sway until his whole body went limp, lacking any strength. Then, he would act like a spoiled child, asking him to move, or intentionally say things to provoke him. When he thrust forcefully, his body would arch backward, exposing his sensitive Adam’s apple, his anal cavity contracting incessantly. His mouth would hang open uncontrollably, and with every thrust, he would make pleasant sounds. At the moment of climax, his whole body would tense up, his voice growing higher and higher; despite his lips saying “no” and “stop,” his body would wrap tightly around him. The moment he released, his whole body would shiver continuously, his eyes filled with mist as he looked at him, not knowing what he was thinking. The tear mole on his face looked like a single teardrop in the dark light, always attracting his gaze. Kissing… Gu Yuanqiao loved to kiss after a climax. It was like a switch; once the kiss ended, he would revert to his usual self, as if everything that had just happened was someone else’s erotic fantasy.

“Mmph…” Thinking of these things, Sheng Yannian finally released, droplets of white fluid splashing onto the bathroom wall. The cold water continued to rinse him, and after the passion subsided, his rationality returned. He realized that he seemed to have done something quite extraordinary just now. He brushed the bangs sticking to his forehead backward and turned off the shower. The desire had been temporarily released, but he still wasn’t satisfied. “Gu Yuanqiao…” Sheng Yannian murmured, rubbing his fingers together again.

For the following two days, Sheng Yannian’s routine consisted of running to the laboratory during the day and cooling his body down with cold water at night. Thus, in this season with a high incidence of influenza, our little President Sheng finally lived up to expectations and fell ill. On Monday morning, Sheng Yannian woke up to find his throat very uncomfortable, and his head aching like crazy. A touch of his forehead confirmed he had a fever. In the past, whenever he had a fever, he would take some medicine, put on a mask, and go about his business as usual. But perhaps because he hadn’t been sick for so long, the illness hit him all at once, and this time it seemed worse than before. As soon as Sheng Yannian tried to climb out of bed, he felt a wave of dizziness and lay back down. With no other choice, he messaged his secretary and assistant to say he couldn’t go to the office today. Afterward, he laboriously “crawled” to the first floor to find fever medication; for the first time, he regretted buying this small two-story apartment. After taking the medicine, he returned the way he came and curled back into his blankets, falling into a groggy sleep.

During the lunch break at Sheng’an, Gu Yuanqiao took the president’s private elevator to the 30th floor. Yes, that morning, the receptionist, Shen Qi, told him that Sheng Yannian had granted him access to the private elevator. He didn’t think much of it; it was something he deserved. Having not contacted Sheng Yannian for the two days of the weekend, his unnatural emotions had cooled down. Sheng Yannian had a point: trading a bandage for a few afternoon teas was indeed someone making a profit. As for other things, if they couldn’t be sorted out, they should be set aside for now; it wasn’t the right time to resolve them.

“Mr. Gu?” Qi Tao, who was just heading out for business, saw Gu Yuanqiao coming out of the elevator. Everyone had already learned from their small group chat that Gu Yuanqiao could use the private elevator. He was the first non-Sheng’an insider to gain such access. “Are you looking for President Sheng?”

“Is it inconvenient?” In the past, employees on the 30th floor would tell him directly if Sheng Yannian was in his office whenever they ran into him.

“Ah, no,” Qi Tao denied. “It’s just that President Sheng is sick and on leave today; he didn’t come in. Is there anything urgent you need to discuss with him?”

“No,” Gu Yuanqiao just paused for a moment. “I just came to thank him for letting me use the private elevator; there’s nothing urgent.” Gu Yuanqiao made up a random excuse. After the two said goodbye, Gu Yuanqiao returned the way he came. He took out his phone and opened the chat window with Sheng Yannian. The latest message was still: “You have added ‘Nian’ as a friend.”

After thinking about it, Gu Yuanqiao decided not to send a message; he still believed they hadn’t reached the point of caring for each other. Sheng Yannian helped him last time simply because that’s who Sheng Yannian was; if it were someone else, he might have done the same thing. But Gu Yuanqiao was not that person. “So boring…” Gu Yuanqiao sat in his office chair. Since returning to the country, except for official business, the remaining half of his time had been spent with Sheng Yannian. Playing around and bickering helped kill the time. With his original plans disrupted, he didn’t know what to do for a moment.

“President Gu.” Wen Han knocked on the open door.

“Hmm?” Gu Yuanqiao gave him some attention. Wen Han entered and closed the office door behind him. “The main family has confirmed that Gu Yuanmu will be sent here at the beginning of next year. The main family’s intention is for you to decide on his position.”

Gu Yuanqiao raised an eyebrow, not saying much. “Do they know about the cooperation with Kiwi?”

“Yes.”

“And they didn’t say anything?”

“…No.” Speaking of this, Wen Han also felt it was very strange. Gu Yuanqiao made decisions on his own, yet the group there only offered symbolic objections before dropping the matter.

“Hmph…” Gu Yuanqiao let out a soft哼 (hng), a bunch of opportunists. “As for my good cousin… he’ll just have to work hard starting from the bottom.”

“Understood.”

Once official business was finished, Gu Yuanqiao pulled Wen Han to chat about personal matters. In fact, Wen Han and Ruan Yi had already gotten their marriage certificate, though very few people knew. They were planning to hold the wedding and honeymoon after things settled down. However, Gu Yuanqiao actually very much hoped they would go ahead with the wedding; after all, the world is unpredictable, and no one can guarantee what might happen. It was a pity his two friends were so determined. Unlike Ruan Yi, Wen Han was simply not good at talking about his own affairs. So, after a few moments, they went back to talking about work. Gu Yuanqiao learned that “Lodythe” seemed related to one of their collateral branches, and the specific situation was still being probed. He had no impression of that family, only remembering that at a family banquet after his high school graduation, a little girl from their family was very close to his Third Aunt.

‘Third Aunt… could she be involved?’ Gu Yuanqiao squinted his eyes. His Third Aunt, Gu Zhuxuan, was a typical lady of a prominent family and showed no interest in business whatsoever. In his memory, his Third Aunt spent all day in her painting studio, and facts proved that she had talent in artistic creation. Selfishly, he hoped Gu Zhuxuan had nothing to do with this matter; after all, in the muddy swamp of the Gu family, Gu Zhuxuan was a rare lotus.

When Wen Han left, Gu Yuanqiao realized not much time had passed, and since there was nothing left to solve, he decided to leave early. As soon as he sat in the car, his phone rang; it was actually Sheng Yanqing. Since returning to S City, he and Yanqing had been in the most frequent contact, after all, they had been inseparable for the two years of high school. Although they didn’t contact each other after graduation, he was thick-skinned, and Sheng Yanqing never brought it up either. The two of them seemed unchanged, still making plans to go out for a meal on an ordinary afternoon like in high school. When he found out that Sheng Yanqing’s marriage was a political one, his first reaction was shock, but he didn’t say much. He knew Sheng Yanqing’s personality; although he seemed gentle and good-tempered, as if he could accommodate everything, deep down he was stubborn. If it was something that didn’t concern him, what others said was useless. So, he himself probably didn’t reject this marriage, and there was no need for Gu Yuanqiao to do something unnecessary.

“Hello? Yanqing, is something wrong?” Gu Yuanqiao answered the phone. The person on the other end seemed to be outdoors; the background was a bit noisy.

“I’m sorry, Senior, are you free right now? I want to ask you for a favor.” Sheng Yanqing was filming on location and, as soon as he finished his scene, he picked up his phone only to see Qi Tao had sent him a message that morning saying Sheng Yannian was sick.

“I’m free. Tell me what it is; within my ability, I will definitely help.”

“Well… it’s just…” Sheng Yanqing himself felt a bit embarrassed. “Yannian has a fever. Could you trouble yourself to go to his house and check on him?”

He knew Sheng Yannian and Gu Yuanqiao didn’t get along well, but he truly couldn’t find anyone else. Sheng Yannian didn’t have many friends, the only one who was close to him had just been sent out of town by his old man, and his two secretaries were busy working. After turning it over in his mind, the only one he could find was Gu Yuanqiao. But they had lived together before, and he hadn’t seen Sheng Yannian complain about him, so they must be getting along quite well, right?

“….” Gu Yuanqiao fell silent for a moment. Sheng Yannian had to tell his brother when he was sick; was he a baby?

“Sen… Senior? I’m sorry, I really couldn’t find…” Seeing the silence on the other end, Sheng Yanqing felt like he had indeed asked the wrong person.

“I can do it.” Gu Yuanqiao started the car.

“Wait, after I get back… eh?” Gu Yuanqiao wondered if his ears had heard wrong. “Senior, you agreed?!”

“Yeah,” Gu Yuanqiao laughed, “After all, he’s your brother and also my junior; it’s nothing to look after him.”

“Thank you, Senior! I’ll treat you to a meal when I get back.” Sheng Yanqing said gratefully.

“Alright, bring your husband and daughter when you do; you haven’t introduced them to me yet.” Gu Yuanqiao remembered Sheng Yannian mentioned that little niece once.

“Okay! No problem!” ‘Senior is truly a good person!’ Sheng Yanqing thought, and he became even more determined to make sure Sheng Yannian and Gu Yuanqiao lived in harmony.

After hanging up the phone, Gu Yuanqiao happily drove toward the residential complex where Sheng Yannian lived. Now, he wouldn’t be bored anymore~
