Mr. Dior : Chapter 11
After finishing breakfast, it was already past ten o’clock. Zhang Chenfei drove the car, getting ready to head to the company, and was about to tell his little body double to behave at home when he saw that fellow had already put on a suit and climbed right into the passenger seat.
“What, you can’t bear to be apart after serving me once, wanting to accompany me to the company, hmm?” The CEO was immensely proud. The little body double clinging to him so much gave him the illusion that Yanyan also clung to him just like this.
“I’m not going there, go to my company instead. We have a morning meeting on Mondays.” Fearing his husband would forget the route, Jiao Qi used his smart-brain to connect to the car navigation and set the destination to Baji.
The little body double actually had a job? The CEO, who had no memory of this detail, was quite surprised. After thinking for a moment, he said, “Fine, seeing as you obediently took your contraceptive pill today, I’ll allow you to hitch a ride.”
This is my car… Jiao Qi rolled his eyes, too lazy to argue with him.
The silver Maserati drove out of the villa area. Past the morning rush hour, the road was completely smooth and clear. Baji’s morning meeting had already started, and Jiao Qi used his smart-brain to watch the live broadcast sent by Yu Yuan, listening to them report on their work.
Unable to see the contents of his little darling’s smart-brain, Zhang Chenfei assumed he was just spacing out, his gaze darkening slightly.
“You are already my man, so forget about that poor kid from now on. I don’t want Yanyan’s body double keeping anyone else in his heart.” Such an overbearing and unreasonable remark was spoken by the CEO as if it were a matter of course.
“Hmm?” Jiao Qi snapped back to reality from the video conference, bewildered. “What poor kid?”
Zhang Chenfei’s grip on the steering wheel tightened involuntarily, and he let out a cold snort. “Chenfei, you accidentally called out that name yesterday, don’t think I didn’t hear it. To be my man, you must be entirely devoted. If I ever hear that name again, I’ll make him disappear from this world forever.”
The body double little darling was left speechless, deeply worried that the man would sign his name as Dior Zhang when signing contracts.
On Monday, Baji Company was bustling yet orderly.
After finishing up Baji’s affairs at lightning speed, the worried little darling decided to drop by Shifei Technology to take a look. Just as he stepped out of the president’s office, he was intercepted by a trendy-looking young man.
“President Jiao.” The newcomer had a somewhat sneaky appearance, but with styling and packaging, he was barely passable. It was none other than the live streamer “Conscience Fed to the Dogs,” who had recently been causing a fuss over contract renewal fees.
“Something the matter?” Jiao Qi didn’t quite appreciate this habit of blocking people at the doorway. “Make an appointment with the secretary first.” With that, he lifted his foot and prepared to leave.
The young live streamer was choked up for a moment. As an internet idol with millions of followers, he had long been pampered by his fans as if he were number one in the world, so he had long forgotten that meeting the CEO required an appointment.
“I have an urgent matter, there’s no time to make an appointment, it will only take two minutes of your time.” The live streamer extended an arm covered in glittering jewelry to block Jiao Qi’s path.
Jiao Qi narrowed his eyes and glanced at the time. “Alright, speak.”
This live streamer was a retired e-sports player who primarily streamed video games, and his real name was Gou Xin. His popularity was still decent, and Baji wanted to keep him, but because other streaming platforms were also extending olive branches, he grew greedy and made outrageous counteroffers.
“I just want to know why contract talks halfway through were suddenly terminated?” The director in charge of signing contracts at Baji Live only knew how to beat around the bush; previously, they had promised to discuss his terms with upper management, and the result of the discussion turned out to be wishing him a bright future. He had requested an additional thirty million on top of his original base pay, which was actually much higher than what the other agency was offering. Moreover, Baji had disciplined management, and he didn’t want to leave lightly.
“I looked at the data analysis. If we follow the pricing you requested, the profit margin drop will exceed expectations,” Jiao Qi replied expressionlessly.
“Impossible, look at how much money I make for the platform every year! And my popularity keeps rising. Shifei’s new game endorsement next year specifically requested me, just this single endorsement alone is worth more than…”
“I think you still haven’t figured it out.” Jiao Qi raised his hand slightly, cutting off the young man’s meaningless and increasingly loud argument. “Shifei Technology is my husband’s company. Who gets the endorsement is up to me.”
When Director Liang calculated the profit margins initially, he had also factored in Shifei’s endorsement fee, which made the conclusion inaccurate. When it came down to it, it was all family business anyway, and whoever got the endorsement would still keep the benefits within Baji. Putting aside all that, “Conscience Fed to the Dogs” simply wasn’t worth that price.
“Then what is the absolute most you can offer?” Gou Xin clenched his fists, getting angry just looking at Jiao Qi’s condescending, young master demeanor.
He came from an impoverished background and had only fared moderately well in professional gaming teams. Having finally become famous as a live streamer, he thought he had finally risen above others, but the moment he locked eyes with Jiao Qi’s calm and unfazed gaze, he felt like he was nobody all over again.
“Talk to Director Liang about the contract.” Jiao Qi glanced at the time. “Your two minutes are up.”
“Pardon me, please make way, the CEO’s schedule is very tight.” Yu Yuan wriggled his plump body and bounced student Gou aside with a thud, signaling the security guards standing by the elevator. The suited guards immediately stepped forward to grab the guy who was still trying to cause a scene.
Watching that calm, tall, and slender figure retreating, Gou Xin couldn’t help shouting, “You really think you call the shots at Shifei? You’re nothing more than a body double…”
Jiao Qi’s footsteps came to an abrupt halt. He turned back to look at the cornered top live streamer, frowning slightly. “Gou Xin, if you still want to survive in the streaming industry, watch your words.”
The completely flat tone instantly chilled the hot-headed young man, causing him to shut his mouth in panic.
Jiao Qi felt a slight headache coming on. During yesterday’s game launch event, he had no idea what nonsense Zhang Chenfei had spouted to others, for it to even reach Gou Xin’s ears. Truly, if you don’t keep an eye on him for even a second, something goes wrong.
Stepping outside, he called Li Yingjun, asking him to help check yesterday’s list of attendees as well as everyone Zhang Chenfei had interacted with. Hearing Li Yingjun’s hesitant voice on the other end of the line, he only felt a deep sense of mental exhaustion.
“It really isn’t what you think.”
Hurrying as fast as he could to Shifei Technology, the thing he feared most had still happened. A dozen documents on the desk had all been signed with a fancy, elegant English cursive signature: Dior Zhang, which was simply too painful to look at.
Looking closer, fortunately they were all internal company documents with no critical contracts involved. Jiao Qi snatched the coffee mug right out of the CEO’s hands and poured the contents directly over them.
Zhang Chenfei watched his little body double commit this act with his own eyes. Without the slightest disguise, not even a fake stumble, he just blatantly poured coffee over the documents he had finished signing. “What are you doing? Do you know how important these documents are?”
Ignoring him, Jiao Qi casually pressed the bell to summon the secretary inside.
This little body double was truly a handful, using every possible trick to seduce him, making a mess of things in the morning, and now what was he trying to do? Let the secretary see the marks on his body so rumors would spread everywhere to secure his status as Mrs. Zhang?
Grabbing the little body double and pushing him down onto the boss’s chair, Zhang Chenfei braced both hands on the armrests to trap him in place. “Very good, you have successfully caught my attention.”
The secretary knocked and walked in.
“These documents are ruined, have the departments redo them,” Jiao Qi pushed his husband away, pointing at the mess on the desk as he told the secretary.
“Yes, sir!” The secretary efficiently tidied up the desk, notified the respective departments to resend new copies of the documents, and then left the president’s office without looking back once, refusing to glance at the undercurrents of tension between the two of them the entire time.
Once the secretary left, the CEO swept his little darling up onto the desk, poking his bouncy little chest with a single finger. “Put away those filthy thoughts of yours, I won’t fall for your traps. Provoke me again, and I’ll fuck you in front of the entire company.”
Such crude words caused the little darling’s face to flush, and deeply moved, he slapped the man right across the head.
“You actually dare to hit my head, I think you’ve grown tired of living.” The CEO was beyond furious. “What kind of thing do you think you are, only Yanyan has the right to hit me!”
The body double who dared to strike back was pinned right onto the office desk. When his fingers brushed against the expensive suit, however, Mr. Dior hesitated. The Jiao Qi wearing a suit was nothing like the slender and delicate Jiao Yan from his memories. The morning’s accident was already a mistake, and he could not afford to make any more.
Jiao Qi had no idea what kind of mental rabbit hole his husband had crawled into this time, but for the next few days, the man didn’t touch him at all. At most, he couldn’t resist sneaking a kiss, and nothing more intimate happened. At night, the two of them slept in the downtown apartment on a single bed, yet Zhang Da Diao still used a pile of bolster pillows to draw a metaphorical boundary across it.
This cycle seemed longer than the last one, and Jiao Qi anxiously called Que De. That guy only offered some nonsense excuse like “maybe the word count of this novel is longer than the previous one.” President Jiao considered reporting him to the Health Commission.
Intimacy aside, what was terrifying was that every time Zhang Chenfei came home, he cooked salt and pepper pork ribs for him.
Jiao Qi didn’t actually like eating salt and pepper pork ribs, as they always reminded him of a certain nickname from high school. Back then, his stomach was bad, and whatever little food he managed to keep down all went into growing taller, leaving him painfully thin. Teenage boys were all busy building muscle, while he still looked like a rack of ribs, getting mocked whenever he took off his shirt.
“Jiao Yan looks like a rack of ribs, so he’s salt and pepper ribs, hahahahaha…”
All those past memories bubbled up, and looking at the plate of aromatic salt and pepper ribs before him made him angry. Jiao Qi pushed the plate away, refusing to eat.
“This is what Yanyan likes to eat.” Zhang Chenfei picked up a piece of rib, placed it in Jiao Qi’s bowl, and signaled for him to eat.
“Since when do I like eating this?” Jiao Qi was thoroughly baffled; ever since high school, he had never liked this dish.
Zhang Chenfei raised an eyebrow, thinking his little body double was playing along well today, so he patiently recounted his first love story. Picking up a piece of rib, he bit into it with eyes full of deep affection. “His classmates all called him salt and pepper ribs, so he must have liked eating them.”
“Ugh!”
