The Second Young Master’s Obedient Husband : Chapter 21

The next day, Liang Yu sent Su Qingyu home, then took his gear and went into the mountains. Su Qingyu hadn’t seen Liang Yu for nearly half a month. He asked Shuanzi several times but never heard that the man had returned. He was so afraid something had happened to Liang Yu that he was anxious to the point of wanting to go into the mountains to search for him himself. Shuanzi stopped him, and considering his mother as well, he finally calmed down and waited obediently for the man to return.

On the seventeenth day of the twelfth lunar month, something major happened in the village.

Liang Yu had been in the mountains for half a month, and he actually brought down a bear.

The news spread in the afternoon. At that time, Su Qingyu was at home brewing medicine when he suddenly heard a commotion outside. He pushed open the door and saw many people running toward the eastern end of the village along the road, shouting as they ran: “Master Liang killed a bear! Killed a bear!”

Su Qingyu also saw Auntie Wang from next door. Running Auntie Wang saw Su Qingyu and called out to him, her face full of excitement: “Qingyu! Qingyu! Master Liang is back! He killed a bear! A bear!”

Su Qingyu was stunned. The spoon in his hand nearly dropped to the ground.

“It’s true! Such a big one! Covered in blood, carried back! Everyone in the village has gone to see. You hurry and go see too!”

Auntie Wang finished speaking and ran off, leaving Su Qingyu standing at the door, his heart skipping a beat. He put down the medicine spoon and ran outside.

Running near the village head’s blue brick and tile house, a crowd had already gathered. Su Qingyu couldn’t squeeze in and could only stand on the outer edge, standing on tiptoe to look. Inside the crowd, a flatbed cart slowly approached. Lying on the cart was a large black creature, as long as a person, with four legs as thick as tree trunks.

It was a bear.

That bear was covered in blood. A long gash ran across its chest, the flesh turned outward, black and gruesome. Its size was terrifyingly large. A large wound gaped open on its head, the blood already congealed into dark red.

Su Qingyu stood outside the crowd, looking at the bloody bear, his legs going weak.

Liang Yu walked beside the cart. A bloodstain had appeared below his right eye, making Liang Yu look even more fierce. The bloodstain wasn’t long, but it was enough to glimpse the danger of the hunt. If it had been slightly off, his right eye would have been ruined. The rest of his body was covered by clothes, so it was unknown whether he was injured elsewhere.

The onlookers chattered incessantly. Shuanzi drove the cart, listening to the exclamations of the people around him, grinning widely with a silly, honest smile, his chest puffed out in pride, as if he were the one who had killed the bear. Liang Yu, meanwhile, walked beside the cart in a loose, casual manner, his expression calm, carrying a bloodstained knife in his hand, as if nothing had happened.

Someone in the crowd shouted: “Master Liang, are you injured?”

Liang Yu waved his hand and said nothing.

Someone else shouted: “How much silver can this bear sell for?”

Liang Yu still said nothing, only kept walking forward.

Su Qingyu stood outside the crowd, looking at that person covered in blood, his heart clenched tight.

His mind was full of that bear, bloody and enormous. How did he fight it? That wound was so dangerous. Were there injuries elsewhere? Was he tired?

Su Qingyu wanted to squeeze in to take a look but couldn’t get through. He could only stand there anxious and helpless.

The cart arrived at the entrance of the Liang family courtyard. Liang Yu called for several people to help carry that bear inside.

The village head came out from the house. Seeing that bear, his face changed color. He circled his son several times, saw that there were no obvious major injuries on his body, and only then breathed a sigh of relief. Then he began to scold: “You don’t want your life anymore? You dare to provoke that thing?”

Liang Yu laughed, a reckless, unbridled laugh: “It provoked me first.”

Father Liang looked at his manner and grew angry. Considering the crowd, he restrained himself from laying hands on him. Mother Liang had no such reservations. She reached out and grabbed Liang Yu’s ear, pulling him toward the main room.

Liang Yu’s face turned red from holding it in. Only after the door was closed by his older brother Liang Feng did a faint howl sound come from inside the room.

The courtyard gate closed. The crowd gradually dispersed, discussing as they walked.

“Good heavens, a bear! How much silver can this sell for?”

“At least eighty to a hundred taels, I’d say. Bear skin is valuable, bear paws are even more valuable.”

“Master Liang truly has great skill, daring to go into the mountains alone to kill a bear.”

“Indeed. That bear is so fierce, one slap can kill a person. For Master Liang to be able to kill the bear, that must be tremendous skill.”

“We can’t provoke the Liang family from now on, especially Master Liang. That one is a Yama King.”

Su Qingyu stood not far away, listening to these words, feeling both afraid and proud in his heart. Afraid that Liang Yu was injured, proud that the man truly had ability.

Su Qingyu was standing there when the courtyard gate suddenly opened a crack. Shuanzi poked his head out, saw Su Qingyu, and gave him a look.

Su Qingyu understood. Taking advantage of no one paying attention, he quietly went around to the side door and entered Liang Yu’s small courtyard.

Shuanzi let Su Qingyu in and took the opportunity to leave himself. Those two were sticky and affectionate; he wouldn’t stay there to be a nuisance. As soon as he went out, he saw Chunniang from next door coming out with a basin in her hands. He hurriedly went over to her eagerly, smiling even more foolishly.

Su Qingyu had just entered the room when he saw Liang Yu standing by the water basin, wiping his body with a cloth. His cotton jacket was thrown aside. He was only wearing a pair of underpants, revealing his lean and muscular upper body.

Su Qingyu ran over, his voice trembling: “Second Brother Liang, are you injured?”

Liang Yu turned back, saw that deathly pale little face, reached out and pulled the person over, his hand still damp as he pinched Su Qingyu’s face: “Just a small injury, nothing serious.”

Su Qingyu’s eyes reddened upon hearing this. Like a little dog, he circled around Liang Yu, looking him up and down several times. Only after confirming there were just a few small wounds on his face and arms did he relax. Once that breath of relief came out, his legs went weak and he nearly sat on the ground.

Liang Yu quickly supported Su Qingyu. Looking at that face on the verge of tears, his heart softened unbearably.

“Are you silly? If I were injured, could I still be standing here?”

Su Qingyu sniffled, saying nothing.

Liang Yu showed a smile, reached out and pinched that face.

“What are you crying for? I’m not dead.”

Su Qingyu couldn’t hold it in. Tears rolled down. He threw himself into that embrace and held on tight.

Liang Yu was startled. He looked down at that head buried against his chest, reached out and held the person tighter.

“Alright,” his voice low, uncharacteristically gentle, “it’s fine now.”

Su Qingyu buried himself in that warm embrace, crying fiercely, his shoulders shaking, crying out all the worry and fear of those days.

Liang Yu held him, his large hand stroking that slender back again and again, his touch gentle, comforting his little ge’er.

After quite a while, Su Qingyu finally stopped crying. He raised his head, his eyes and nose both red, like a little rabbit.

Liang Yu looked at that face, lowered his head and kissed his eye.

“Alright, help me heat water. I need to wash.”

Su Qingyu nodded and went to the kitchen to heat water.

Once the water was heated, Liang Yu went to the warm room to wash, then came out in clean clothes. Su Qingyu had already tidied the kitchen and stewed a pot of meat, steaming hot and fragrant.

Liang Yu sat down to eat. He was truly hungry, eating quickly. Su Qingyu sat beside him watching him eat. Watching and watching, he still couldn’t help but ask again: “That bear, it really didn’t injure you?”

Liang Yu finished the rice in his bowl, raised his head, looked at those still worried eyes, laughed, put down his chopsticks, took Su Qingyu’s hand and placed it on his own chest.

“Feel for yourself. Are there any injuries?”

Su Qingyu’s face reddened, but his hand truly felt around there. The chest was hard, all muscle, felt very good, and indeed there were no injuries. After feeling around, he tried to pull his hand back, but Liang Yu held it down.

“You want to run after feeling around?”

Su Qingyu’s face grew even redder. He lowered his eyes, his lashes trembling fiercely.

Liang Yu looked at that appearance, and a fire rose in his heart. He pulled the person into his embrace and lowered his head to kiss him.

After kissing, he pressed his forehead against Su Qingyu’s and said in a low voice: “Come inside, let me see if you’ve gotten fatter.”

Liang Yu carried Su Qingyu into the inner room.

After being busy several times, Su Qingyu finally confirmed that Liang Yu truly wasn’t injured, still robust and strong as ever.

Afterward, Su Qingyu leaned against Liang Yu’s embrace, his body soft as he recovered his strength. He looked up at the wound beneath Liang Yu’s eye, his heart aching as he carefully touched it with his hand, then raised his face and kissed it.

Liang Yu grabbed Su Qingyu’s hand, lowered his head and kissed it, then bit Su Qingyu’s finger bones and ground his teeth. Looking up at Su Qingyu gazing at him, he also bit his face.

After being intimate for a while, Liang Yu played with Su Qingyu’s hand in his, his tone full of casualness: “These past few days, has anyone said anything?”

Su Qingyu shook his head.

Liang Yu cupped Su Qingyu’s face with one hand, pinching both sides of Su Qingyu’s cheeks, squeezing his face into a little goldfish shape.

“Stop shaking your head. Speak.”

Su Qingyu buried his face against his chest, his voice muffled: “No one is saying anything anymore.”

Liang Yu pinched his face and made a sound of agreement.

“Killing the bear did the trick. Saved some people from not knowing life from death, their mouths chattering like sparrows.” Liang Yu felt the texture was good and pinched again. “Now it’s fine. Let’s see who dares to fart anymore.”

Su Qingyu’s eyes reddened. He raised his head and looked at the person with eager eyes, wanting to say something, but his throat was choked up tight.

Liang Yu lowered his head and kissed those two soft lips, kissing until the person couldn’t breathe. After kissing, he rubbed his face against Su Qingyu’s, his voice low.

“From now on, no one dares to bully you anymore.”
