The Second Young Master’s Obedient Husband : Chapter 87

Su Qingyu rested for a whole day before he recovered his energy. After traveling for so long, on the first day he couldn’t even get out of bed. It felt like all his bones had been taken apart and put back together.

Liang Yu had much better stamina than Su Qingyu. After waking up, he held Su Qingyu for a while. Seeing that the person in his arms was still sleeping like a little pig, he got out of bed first and went out to wash up.

After Su Qingyu woke up, he knew from the sunlight coming through the window that it was already late, but his mind was still terribly drowsy. He stared blankly at the window with lifeless eyes.

When Liang Yu came in carrying breakfast, he saw Su Qingyu’s dazed appearance, and his heart couldn’t help but melt into a puddle. The sweet little husband was nestled in the quilt with only his face showing, his little face flushed red from sleep, unbearably cute.

Liang Yu put the breakfast on the table, propped his hand on the bed, leaned down and kissed Su Qingyu: “Time to get up?”

Su Qingyu was a bit stunned by the sudden kiss. He blinked and nodded obediently. Liang Yu poured hot water and brought it over to wipe his face, then took a toothbrush to brush his teeth for him. After washing up, he pinched his face asking for payment. He put the cooled sweet porridge into his hand, then took the wooden basin out to pour away the dirty water.

After eating breakfast, Su Qingyu was fully awake. He got out of bed, put on his clothes, took a hairpin to tie up his hair, and sat at the table pulling out the account books, flipping through them while working the abacus.

Liang Yu sat across from him, also with account books spread open before him. He looked for a while, his brows furrowing. He looked some more, his brows furrowing even deeper. In the end, he put the account books down.

Su Qingyu’s mind started to get muddled after working the abacus for a while. He looked up and stared at Liang Yu pitifully.

Liang Yu met his gaze for a moment, reached out and pinched his face: “Forget it, I’ll go find Big Brother.”

Su Qingyu’s eyes lit up instantly. Looking at Liang Yu’s reluctant expression of biting the bullet, he lowered his head and bit his lower lip, desperately holding back his laughter.

When Liang Yu took the account books to find Liang Feng, Liang Feng was drinking tea in his study.

The autumn harvest had been terribly busy. He had finally sorted out all the accounts, and this year’s taxes had all been paid. The yamen was considerate of their hard work, and since there wasn’t much to do, they had given him a few days of rest.

Liang Feng had been busy for so long and finally had a few leisurely days. He held a leisure book in his hand, with tea snacks bought from town placed beside him. The tea was the fine tea from Suzhou that Liang Yu had brought back, smelling wonderfully fragrant. He took a sip from time to time, his whole person exuding an air of comfort.

Liang Feng was reading with great interest when he heard the door push open. He looked up and saw Liang Yu holding account books, looking honest and simple, and he had a bad feeling. He slowly put down the book in his hand.

He knew Liang Yu’s expression all too well. From childhood to adulthood, every time Liang Yu showed this expression, nothing good ever came of it.

Liang Feng closed his eyes. Even the brief fondness he had felt from the person just returning was gone. He said in a deep voice: “What now?”

Liang Yu saw Liang Feng holding a book with tea snacks beside him and knew the situation was not good. He paused at the doorway, still not having the courage to enter. He stood at the door and said: “Big Brother.”

“You have no big brother.”

“Help me look at some accounts.”

“No. Your own accounts, look at them yourself.”

“Qingyu and I can’t figure them out.”

“You think I’m your family’s bookkeeper?” “No, you’re my big brother.”

Liang Feng was blocked speechless by this reply. He glared at him for several breaths, but still softened: “I must have owed you in my past life.”

Hearing Liang Feng’s softened tone, Liang Yu finally entered, pushed the stack of account books forward, and said honestly: “The numbers have all been checked. It’s just that the final profit split doesn’t balance out. There are a few expenses that we don’t know who should bear…”

“Yes.” Liang Feng responded. Seeing that the records were much better than last time, he felt somewhat pleased. Listening to his words, he knew they simply lacked experience. The matter was not troublesome. Liang Feng’s expression improved considerably. He picked up the brush and habitually started calculating. In no time at all, he had it sorted out. After writing, he set the account books aside, picked up the already cooled tea and took a sip: “Done.”

Liang Yu took the account books and flipped through them: “Big Brother.”

“Alright, stop calling. The more you call, the more trouble comes.”

Liang Yu said sincerely: “Thank you, Big Brother.”

Liang Feng hmphed, reached out and rubbed Liang Yu’s head: “Alright, go out.”

Liang Yu tucked the account books away properly, nodded, and walked toward the door.

Liang Feng picked up his book and glanced at his figure, sighing: “Safe journey, good that you’re back.”

Liang Yu’s footsteps paused for a moment. He responded, went out and closed the door properly, his heart full of warmth.

Su Qingyu was sitting in the courtyard sunbathing. Hearing the sound, he raised his face to look at him, his gaze falling on the account books in his arms: “Big Brother helped?”

Liang Yu nodded, picked up Su Qingyu and sat down, letting him sit on his own lap, burying his face in Su Qingyu’s shoulder hollow and rubbing against it.

Su Qingyu rubbed his head: “Got scolded?”

Liang Yu nodded.

Su Qingyu curved his eyes and kissed him: “My husband is the most amazing. You can hold up the sky for me. Little Fish has finally escaped from the accounts. This is all my husband’s doing.”

Liang Yu laughed openly at his amusing words, cherishingly holding his husband and kissing him again and again.

After a while, Su Qingyu spoke: “Let’s invite Big Brother for drinks tomorrow.”

“Sure.”

“Make a few more dishes.”

“Yes.”

The next day, Su Qingyu and Liang Yu prepared a large table of dishes to entertain Liang Feng and Zhang Yun. Later, for some reason, Liang’s mother also joined in, and it gradually evolved into a whole family gathering. Liang Feng was much more at ease this way. If Liang Yu had truly invited him alone, he wouldn’t have known how awkward it would be.

However, Liang Yu had truly spent a large sum at the most famous tavern in town to buy several pots of the best wine. Whether it was because the wine was too strong or emotions were running high, after a few pots of wine, the two brothers suddenly huddled together and wept bitterly. Liang Feng said: “Back then I was really afraid you would die on the battlefield. I was clearly the older brother, yet I had to let my younger brother step up and take responsibility.”

Liang Yu’s eyes were also red: “Brother, you protected me since we were little. Sister in law also treated me like her own younger brother. Back when the family was struggling, when I was little and couldn’t get enough to eat and cried from hunger, it was Sister in law who saved me half a bowl of rice and made me rice cakes to eat. And your health was never good. Back then you couldn’t even beat me in a fight. How could you have survived on the battlefield…”

Hearing Liang Yu’s words, Liang Feng felt both moved and exasperated. He slapped the back of Liang Yu’s head: “The world has turned upside down. I couldn’t beat you? You dare try fighting back?”

Liang Yu held his head and looked pitifully at Su Qingyu. Su Qingyu had been about to cry from listening, but seeing Liang Yu’s appearance, she couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Liang’s mother calmly put a chicken leg in Su Qingyu’s bowl: “Don’t mind them. Grown men like to bawl like children when they’re drunk, just like when they were little. They used to cry about getting beaten or falling into ditches and other embarrassing things. Now that they have real things to cry about, they cry even harder. They’ve cried several times in the past few years. They won’t stop until they’ve cried through all those old stories.”

Zhang Yun also put a piece of braised pork in Su Qingyu’s bowl: “That’s right, that’s right. Whenever anything happens to Liang Feng, he likes to hold me and cry at night. I’ve gotten tired of listening and won’t let him hold me anymore. After that he held Tingyu and cried. Now Tingyu has gotten smart too. When he sees his father drinking, he runs away fast. He’s disappeared again now, probably holding his bowl to go eat with Shanfeng and the others.”

Su Qingyu was pulled away by them to eat and chat. After the meal, he helped the drunk Liang Yu back to the room. Liang Yu had already passed out from drunkenness. Su Qingyu wiped his body and changed his clothes, but still couldn’t stand the smell of alcohol on him, so he put him on the soft couch, covered him with a quilt, and went to bed to sleep by himself.
