The Second Young Master’s Obedient Husband : Extra Part 4
After succeeding once, whenever Su Qingyu got greedy for food he would follow Liang Yu like a little tail. Liang Yu worked seriously and ignored him. Su Qingyu stood nearby, just watching and not leaving. After a while he said, “Husband, my legs hurt from standing.”
Liang Yu brought over a stool and let him sit down.
Su Qingyu sat down, his hand on his belly, gently stroking it, letting out sighs from time to time.
Liang Yu turned back to look at him.
Su Qingyu looked at him pitifully, tears swirling in his eyes but not falling.
Liang Yu looked at him, knowing in his heart that he was pretending. Those tears came as soon as he wanted them, faster than the face changing on an opera stage. But Liang Yu looked into those eyes, and the string in his heart could not stay taut. His hand unconsciously touched the key at his chest. This lock, he said it was to make Su Qingyu show some restraint, but actually Liang Yu knew this lock was really to remind himself.
“I just want to eat something sweet…”
Liang Yu looked at him, his heart aching terribly.
These past few months, how much suffering had Su Qingyu endured.
For whom was it all?
It was for the little one in his belly, and also for him, Liang Yu.
If it were not for bearing his child, why would he need to suffer all this?
Carrying a child is hard, giving birth is even harder. If the child grew too large and could not come out, the one who suffered would still be Su Qingyu. He did not want to let Su Qingyu suffer more on the birthing bed because of a moment of soft heartedness.
Liang Yu knew all those reasons by heart, but he just could not harden his heart. He took a deep breath and said, “Just one piece.”
Su Qingyu’s eyes lit up right away. The tears were put away, and the corners of his mouth curved up.
Liang Yu took out a piece of osmanthus cake, thought about it, broke the cake in half, ate the larger half himself, and handed the smaller half to Su Qingyu.
Su Qingyu looked at the two bite sized piece of cake and did not bargain. He ate it happily and even gave Liang Yu a sweet kiss.
A few days later, Su Qingyu changed his approach.
No more fake crying, now he played shameless.
Liang Yu was cooking in the kitchen when Su Qingyu wrapped his arms around his waist from behind, his face pressed against his back, rubbing against him sticky and clingy. Liang Yu added a bowl of water to the pot. “Stop it.”
Su Qingyu did not listen. His hand reached around to the front to feel the key on Liang Yu’s chest. He fumbled for a long time but could not get it off, so he got a bit discouraged. Then he noticed the chest muscles under his hand felt quite good, so he stopped rushing for the key. He would feel the key, then pinch the chest muscle. Later he got too lazy to pretend, and his kneading and rubbing grew more and more excessive.
Liang Yu looked down at those two hands groping around on his chest. The roots of his ears grew hot, and he said in a hoarse voice, “What are you doing?”
Su Qingyu’s face was pressed against his back, his ears reddening as he made an excuse. “Getting the key.”
“What do you want the key for?”
“To eat candy.”
“No.”
Su Qingyu’s hands stopped. After a while, he suddenly pinched Liang Yu’s waist, then reached forward to feel Liang Yu’s abdominal muscles.
Liang Yu instinctively dodged, put the lid on the pot, and pulled back some firewood so the vegetable porridge in the pot could keep simmering. Only then did he turn back to look at Su Qingyu with suspicion.
Su Qingyu smiled sweetly, looking well behaved and proper, very innocent and decent, not like someone who would sneakily take advantage of Liang Yu.
After a while, being stared at by Liang Yu, Su Qingyu could not keep it up anymore. He put on an angry act of someone who could not get cake, striking first to gain the upper hand. “Husband, are you giving it or not?”
Liang Yu instinctively felt something was off and looked at him with even more suspicion.
Su Qingyu licked his lips, stood on tiptoe, and blew a breath by his ear, his voice light and soft. “Just one bite.”
Saying this, he reached for Liang Yu’s collar. Liang Yu quickly grabbed his hand with sharp eyes and quick hands.
Su Qingyu lifted his eyes and looked at him pitifully. “Husband, just one small bite.”
“Tomorrow I will make you a bowl of sweet soup, put some brown sugar in it.”
“…”
“Be good.”
“Alright then.”
Su Qingyu leaned into his arms, hugging his waist, his face pressed against his chest, rubbing against it. “I know you are doing this for my own good.”
Liang Yu held him tighter, his chin resting on top of his head, his heart melting into a puddle.
“Husband, after I give birth, you have to buy me lots and lots of cakes.”
“Alright.”
“Osmanthus cake, red date cake, mung bean cake, and sugar figurines.”
“What else?”
“And sweet soup made by you.”
“Alright.”
Sometimes Su Qingyu was not really greedy for food. Before, relying on Liang Yu’s pampering, he pretended to cry and act coquettish, played shameless and said silly things. It was all just to see Liang Yu’s helpless, indulgent look. Teasing his husband was much more fun than eating snacks.
…
Right when autumn had just begun, Su Qingyu went into labor. Liang’s mother brought Zhang Yun and the midwife into the birthing room together. Liang Yu and Liang Feng were in the kitchen boiling hot water, their hearts full of panic. Fortunately, Su Qingyu had been controlling his diet and often walking around the courtyard in the last few months. Although he had slimmed down, the fetus was also small. The delivery went very smoothly and was over in just a few hours.
Liang’s mother brought the baby out to show Liang Yu. Liang Yu did not even look, pushing open the door and going straight into the room to see Su Qingyu.
Liang Yu looked at Su Qingyu’s somewhat pale face and felt terrible heartache. He silently made up his mind that from now on he would never let Su Qingyu suffer through this pain again.
Liang’s mother held the baby, watching Liang Yu rush in without a backward glance just like Liang Feng had done back then. She shook her head helplessly, had Chunniang and Shuanzi send the midwife home, and took her grandson to go dote on him with Liang’s father.
Zhang Yun brought in a bowl of brown sugar eggs into the birthing room. Liang Yu took the bowl and thanked her. “Thank you, sister in law.”
Zhang Yun smiled and acknowledged. Knowing the couple still needed some time to be affectionate, she gave a few reminders and went out.
Liang Yu scooped a spoonful of brown sugar egg, blew on it, tested the temperature, then fed it to Su Qingyu’s mouth. Su Qingyu smiled and ate it. Although his body was weak, his heart was as sweet as the brown sugar eggs.
…
Su Qingyu gave birth to a boy. The two of them thought for a long time but could not settle on a formal name. After Su Qingyu finished sitting the month, the whole family went to a nearby mountain temple fair to have fun. They paid their respects at the Taoist temple, gave some silver, and asked the Taoist priest to bestow a name. The priest calculated with his fingers and gave the name “Liang Chengyuan.”
A clear and open mind passes through life with ease. The Yuan River has irises, the Li River has orchids.
They hoped Xiao Yuanbao could have a clear and open mind, not be burdened by worldly affairs, be full of vitality, and have noble character.
Xiao Yuanbao’s formal name was settled just like that.
