The Second Young Master’s Obedient Husband : Extra Part 5

After Xiao Yuanbao’s full month celebration, he grew fair and tender, almost picking the best features from both Liang Yu and Su Qingyu. He was so adorable that people could not help loving him.

Since the Liang family was doing well, anyone who had even a slight connection to them wanted to be on good terms. So at the hundred day banquet, many people came. The moment they saw Xiao Yuanbao they started praising him, and some even wanted to reach out and touch him. But Su Qingyu had been specially warned by Liang’s mother beforehand not to let others touch Yuanbao. Su Qingyu kept Liang’s mother’s warning firmly in mind, smiling and changing the subject. After dealing with too many people, Su Qingyu got annoyed and also felt Yuanbao was too heavy, so he handed Yuanbao to Liang Yu to hold and went to the back to hide and rest.

Liang Yu took Yuanbao and stood there with a stern face. Although Yuanbao had drooled all over his neck, his appearance was still quite intimidating.

Those people did not dare come close, and even their forced smiles suddenly looked much more strained. The number of people wanting to see the child gradually decreased, and Liang’s mother then suffered the consequences, being pulled into endless conversation until her mouth went dry.

They finally made it to the grabbing ceremony. Su Qingyu came out then, bringing two bowls of rice soup in a pleasing manner. He handed one bowl to Liang’s mother, and after taking Xiao Yuanbao back, he handed the other bowl to Liang Yu.

The two of them moistened their throats and began watching Xiao Yuanbao’s grabbing ceremony.

Su Qingyu placed Xiao Yuanbao on the mat. Xiao Yuanbao sat in the middle of the mat, with The Analects, a brush pen, an abacus, rouge, pastries, and other items placed around him.

Su Qingyu nudged Xiao Yuanbao. Xiao Yuanbao looked curiously at the things around him and picked up the book that was closest to him.

Liang Feng said excitedly, “Good!”

Congratulations followed one after another. Su Qingyu picked up Xiao Yuanbao. Xiao Yuanbao threw away the heavy book, reached out his body to grab the pastries and eat them. His greedy appearance made Su Qingyu laugh uncontrollably.

Su Qingyu pulled the pastry out of his hand, let the eager Yuanbao taste a little, then broke off half and handed it to Liang Yu. The two of them shared and ate the pastry. Yuanbao saw that the fragrant pastry was gone, turned his mouth down like he was about to cry. Su Qingyu quickly took the warmed milk that Chunniang handed over and fed it to Xiao Yuanbao. Xiao Yuanbao stopped crying once he tasted something, and smiled again after drinking his fill.

After the hundred day banquet, Su Qingyu had stayed home for too long and really could not stand it anymore. He pulled Liang Yu along to go stroll and have fun in town, leaving the child with Zhang Yun to look after.

Zhang Yun sat on the heated bed doing needlework. Beside her were two year old Tingxue and Xiao Yuanbao. Tingxue was very curious about this good looking younger brother. The two babies crawled around together on the fenced heated bed. Yuanbao rarely cried. The two babies did not know what they were playing at, but they both looked quite happy.

Liang Tingyu liked his younger siblings very much. After coming back from herding the ducks, he ran into the room to see the younger siblings and play with them. Tingyu was steady and reliable. With him watching Tingxue and Yuanbao, Zhang Yun felt quite at ease and focused on her needlework. These were thick cotton shoes she was making for Liang Feng. Recently the snow was melting, and there was a lot of mud and water on the roads, which wore out shoes quickly. Besides, old shoes were never as soft and comfortable as new ones. Zhang Yun made two pairs of new cotton shoes for Liang Feng every year. With the cotton shoes Zhang Yun made, Liang Feng never got frostbite on his feet again.

Su Qingyu walked down the street with Liang Yu, eating snacks as they shopped. Having stayed home for so long, even watching other people sell vegetables felt fresh and new to him. Liang Yu’s escort agency had taken in quite a few men who had returned from the battlefield, so there were more former soldiers in town, and people had grown used to it.

Su Qingyu watched the bustling crowd with fresh eyes. Through the gaps in the crowd, he saw Uncle Chen happily selling vegetables at his stall. A man with his hair in a bun came to buy vegetables, flipped through them and praised, “The vegetables you sell are really good, and your prices are fair too. You truly deserve to be called a great hero who fought on the battlefield.” Uncle Chen smiled so wide his mouth reached his ears.

Then another man came carrying a vegetable basket, calling out to him with a smile before he even got close. “Uncle Chen! Uncle Chen! Save some for me. I have not seen you selling vegetables for several days. All of us brothers have missed the vegetables you grow. They are so fresh and delicious.”

That man saw there were not many vegetables left in his basket, so he simply bought all of them. Su Qingyu only realized when he turned his head that he was missing an ear. Then he remembered he was a handyman at Liang Yu’s escort agency who was in charge of purchasing.

That man had lost an ear after returning from the battlefield. His martial arts were not high, but his temperament was very good. When Su Qingyu had gone to find Liang Yu before, it was he who had helped call him over.

Uncle Chen helped him pack the vegetables into his basket. It was still early, so the two of them chatted and laughed about past events. Uncle Chen’s face also carried a smile. The gloom and sorrow that could be glimpsed in the past had somehow all disappeared.

Su Qingyu tugged on Liang Yu’s sleeve, not going forward to disturb them. He said in a low, cheerful voice, “This New Year, let’s invite Uncle Chen over again.”

Liang Yu thought about it and nodded.

At noon the two of them ate in town. In the afternoon they went together to check on the shops.

Su Qingyu’s cloth shop was being looked after by assistants and was doing quite well. Chunniang was at the counter helping customers check out. Her little boy sat obediently on a chair playing with a cloth tiger. Chunniang and Shuanzi’s little boy was called Mao’er. His round eyes were very much like Shuanzi’s, and his appearance was quite cute. When he saw Su Qingyu he ran over and hugged his leg, calling out obediently, “Uncle husband!”

Su Qingyu patted his head and handed him a small packet of pastries he had bought. “Be good, go eat your cakes.”

Mao’er held the pastries and thanked him earnestly. “Thank you, uncle husband.”

After saying this, he ran over to hug Chunniang’s leg and handed her the packet of pastries. Chunniang opened the bag, took out a sweet cake and put it in his hand. “Go eat, do not get it on your cloth tiger.”

Mao’er nodded seriously, took the sweet cake, and sat back on the small stool eating while playing with his cloth tiger.

Chunniang came out from behind the counter and greeted them. “Second master, boss, hello.”

Su Qingyu smiled. “Chunniang, bring out the account books for me to look at.”

Chunniang nodded, took a key and opened a small box in the back, took out several account books and handed them to him. “Last year’s and this year’s are all here.”

Su Qingyu nodded, flipped through the account books and praised, “Chunniang, you are really amazing!”

Chunniang answered a bit shyly.

After looking through the account books, Su Qingyu went to check the cloth and the embroidery pieces collected this year, asking about the cloth shop’s specific situation and so on.

Liang Yu held a cup of tea and sat on a stool, watching the stern faced, imposing little brother. A smile appeared at his lips. Now this little brother could already stand on his own. He spoke about the cloth shop’s management with great clarity. When he was serious, his manner was quite intimidating. He had matured a lot compared to before.

After going over the cloth shop’s situation, Su Qingyu looked at the silver earned in the accounts and smiled happily. He told Chunniang to give everyone an extra month’s pay as a reward this month. Chunniang smiled and agreed.

Su Qingyu turned his head and discovered Liang Yu had been staring at him, not knowing for how long. His face involuntarily reddened. He put down the account books and walked toward Liang Yu, skillfully curling up in his arms and rubbing against him.

Liang Yu held him and kissed him. The two of them went next door to the escort agency to briefly check on business, then went out to listen to a storyteller.
